How many others have had the pillion cover fall off unexpectedly? I was riding in the city yesterday at city limits (50 km/hr) when I felt a few odd taps near my arse cheek, I realised what it was and tried in vain to catch it before I saw it hitting the road beside me, I couldn't stop as traffic behind me so I was quick to pull into the coned off lane beside me (many of these in Christchurch after the earthquakes have damaged our roads and sewer/water pipes) and run back to collect it, not before 4 cars drove over it, thankfully without smashing it. 2 small chips and some scuffs on top of it and the padding, I was gutted, new bike only 530 kms on the clock and this, I have not even lifted this part off and this happens, so went to dealer today and he will be contacting Ducati to see if there has been any other reports of this happening, it appears they are a bit light on engineering, but that's life with a superbike. I do recall others on here stating this but was not able to find the posts.

Someone else had them happen to them, it was covered under warranty. Oddly enough mine is the complete opposite, it's a BITCH to get off, I have to bump the thing several times before it comes off.

Ur lucky mate , mine dropped off while riding on the highway . Nothing left to retrieve ..
Dealer in SG didn't wanted to cover it .
I now double check the cover religiously before moving off everytime .

I think it is part of the new Ducati experience. Mine came off on the way home from the first service. Amazingly I felt it move and caught it with my left hand before it hit the floor! Since then I have not been able to remove it either.

Whenever you put it back on, give it a good whack from the opposite side to make sure the lock has snapped in.

Mine was saved by reading about other people's mishaps on this forum:eek:

Definitely check for masking tape on the metal pin that secures it in place on the cover itself, the extra width will make it seem like it's in place until its too late. Mine had a little tape left on from paint and now that it'r removed I have no longer had any issues.

+1 give ita firm slap / push to make sure its home....then hit the other direction to double make sure....nearly lost mine once, Lucky I pulled over for fuel 200m from home...;)

Dealer just emailed, Ducati coming to the party and replacing it with a new one. Thumbs up Ducati, does. This mean they know there is an issue in design????
