I lierally own a half dozen pitbull stand, and consider them the best. I have collected a decent variety of pins for the center hole in various bikes triple trees over the years, all at $10 to $20 each. I was going to order one for the Pani and oh my god,$50!!!!!. Sorry, having a problem with that. I know there is an addition operation to put a bevel on it, but really? Or is it because it is for a Pani, and they think we'll pay it?
anyway, does anyone have one, and own calipers? I have a lathe and milling machine and can make one if someone can give me the measurements
Thanks
Brett

Yeah I hear ya. I did the same thing when I saw how much the pin was. Think since it's for Ducati =$$$ like everything else.

The pin number doubles as the diameter of the pin in mm. If you search my previous posts, I actually measured and posted up the diameter.

I speculate that the combination of limited model compatibility (one exotic/expensive bike) and extra materials/processes equals low quantity production at higher unit cost. Plus it's for a Ducati superbike.
I don't have that pin yet. But I will. :(

Thanks Chrissa, but there is also the height from the thru bolt and the amount of the diagonal cut from the top. It is a clearance issue that forced the cut on top, so diameter alone will force a bunch of trial and error, which I will do if needed, but would love to avoid ;)

When I get home tonight, I'll measure up my pin and post some more info.

Ok, an interesting discovery about the pin. The fat part of the pin actually extends from the thin part at a very slight angle. There is also a lip at the base of the pin that the lower triple clamp rests on so it doesn't extent too far in (I just confirmed this by stuffing the pin up my R's head tube). The edges of the fat part of the pin are heavily beveled on the end (and are not part of my diagram).

I'm including a crude drawing with some dimensions plus a photo of the real pin. Hopefully this is enough to see what's needed?

Note: drawing is NOT to scale ;)

Chris.

Holy complicated pin Batman!!! Thanks Chris, you did alot of work, I appreciate it. It is also easy to see now why they charge $50. There are alot of operations there, and it is probably done in a CNC Mill.

I Just ordered this Pin, my brother in law has a CNC :) let me see how much would it cost to make but i think I can get it in the market for $25 jiji, PM for a group buy and let me see if its worth it, I will put them on eBay lets say 50 of them I think thelll sell, what u guys think??

A Little Help?

Guys,

I assume I need to remove this cover to use the Pitbull front stand with pin #28? Can someone tell me what fastener is used here? .... I tried all my metric hex/allen head and star tools I have without luck. :(

Thank you in advance ....

That's the horn, go deeper and remove the plastic plug. It's in there. Watch your mud guard and fairings when installing the stand..

Installing the stand is a delicate operation, not much room in there and the mudguard is really close.

The pins is expensive because it's pretty elaborate, no machinist I know could make one for 50 $ unless it would be for a personal favor.

Top tip. To remove the small plastic cover, use your key! It's tip is shaped perfectly to to go into the slot at the front of the cover!

Will the Pitbull stand also lift from the forks on the Pani using the Hybrid Swivels option?

Yes, I've used that too when I don't feel like digging out the plastic plug. Though I've never tried removing the froth wheel using the swivel stand.

What's the point of the plastic plug? Can you leave it off or does it always need to be replaced?
