New V4 Panigale coming shortly. should I get it ceramic coated or have a paint protection film installed?

Both, they can slick it so nothing sticks but also, it’s actually protected. 4 months after my suv got the 5 year warranty ceramic pro it has 2 big rock scrapes on the hood showing exposed metal.

you can be selective with the ppf in critical areas. Take it to An expert at detailing motorcycles

xpel is my fave

Does any body know the average cost/price to do just the ceramic coat, or just the plastic film or do both at the same time?
I got a quote of $395.00 just for the ceramic coating. (Priced in the Pacific Northwest).

PPF. I'm shopping around at this point. Spoke to a shop yesterday and they wanted to charge $2250 for upper and front fairing only....they must be high as a kite to be charging that bull. That's how much it'd be to wrap my whole front end of my car, not 3 f'in pieces of my bike..

I think they were buying brand new fairings and wrapping those. Lol

Does anybody know, if you already have a ceramic coating done, can you apply ppf over the top? And can you stick tank grips on if ceramic has already been done? (I ask because my local pro guy reckons the ceramic must be removed otherwise it's like laying gladwrap down - he says it won't stick.)

That is correct info if it has ceramic coating the ppf will have a hard time sticking.

Oh well, I guess I wait for their quote. It won't be pretty.

Keep us posted.
Pro coatings can only be removed with sanding

I don’t think it would be a big deal to stick some tank grips on, wipe with diluted ipa, apply the adhesive pads then heat them up nice and hot and press them on

As for the desire to add ppf, if ur bike was ceramic coated with a real deal coating, just leave it alone and enjoy your beautiful ceramic coated bike
if it was done with “spray on” “ceramic” consumer grade stuff, just wipe it away with the product below, add ppf then slick it with pro ceramic coating

I used CarPro CQ.UK 3.0 which is a proper comes-in-a-bottle treatment but still consumer grade. Pretty sure they would need to buff it off. Pity, it looks pretty good, but would really like to have the ppf armour.

that stuff works well, I’ve had car pro on my triumph for 2 years and it’s holding up great but I do take very good care of it

you can “Slick” your coated bike every 6 months or so with a super hydrophobic topcoat like EXO4 from Gtechniq.

I found Hydrosilex works well as a top coat

Moving forward I’ll be using a 1 layer of Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light with 2 layers of EXO4
