Has anyone mounted a radar detector on their V4 Panigale? I have my phone coming off the fork stem with a RAM mount. I tried installing the detector(Escort Max360 MKii) with a clutch mount, but the windscreen fairing gets in the way when I turn.

Any ideas and pictures would be really helpful and appreciated.

Cheers.

You have to be a bit creative, I once used a go pro adhesive mount on the inside of the windscreen but ultimately I made the choice phone or license, I chose license and the phone goes in a pocket, or in your case get a gascap mounted mini-bag with a clear cover. The bigger issue is getting the alerts to the helmet, ideally you want bluetooth to your headset. Sound is better than lights

I made a 2 piece metal bracket which the radar base mount (TPX detector) bolts to then the whole unit fits between two canopy cowl bolts. The detector is removable and has the power / led light fitting inside the cowl. Hopefully the pictures explain it better.

That’s a really good idea!!

I haven’t decided if I want to replace my mirrors with bar-end ones, but great idea with your mount and placement.

Interesting--so you fabricated both the bracket and the detector resting platform? Is the power connector the standard one included with the detector? Not sure we have the TPX brand in the US--I'll search. Would love to incorporate this on my 1199S. Any chance you would consider manufacturing a small run for your Panigale brethren? Don't know if the L-twin bikes have different windshield bolt spacing from the V4 model.

Hi, the plastic base (which the TPX unit slides onto) came with the detector together with the power cable and led light. I'd assume each version of the Pani will have slightly different cowl angles so one size won't fit all. I started off with some thick cardboard to get the angles right, then trimmed the shape down to make it less bulky before transferring the shape to aluminum. I did aim to make the bracket in one piece but the angles got a bit too complicated when bending in metal, someone with a greater toolset might be more successful.
