Hi all, Had a search though the forum and couldn't find anything so apologies in advance if this is a repeat but hear goes.
Just bought a new 1299s and can't for the life of me remove the rear passenger hangers/pegs. I had a standard 1299 before and didn't have a problem removing or installing them on that bike but when I try to remove them on the new bike the 2 spacers above the heat shield don't give enough clearance to slip out the hanger brackets. On the previous bike once the 2 bolts were removed the plastic cover to the heat shield was able to move around quite a bit to allow the removal of the hanger. On the new one the heat shield is still quite solid even when the 2 bolts are removed. What am I missing/doing wrong.

The spacers have a small heel / nose. Try gently, with a lever, the distance between exhaust heat shield and the frame a little to enlarge and the spacers can be easily removed. Ciao Piri

Thanks I'll give it a go

You've already seen that there are not just two screws? And the two small screws in the middle you must also solve!

Yes, the peg hangers are tight on a 1299s. I have attacked the inside edges on mine with a Dremmel so that they are easier to install and remove. Not that I ever ride the bike with them on, you understand! But they do make good anchoring points for when I have to trailer the bike somewhere.

That would be interesting, razz. Do you have photos of your attacked pegs?

Here you go! The shamfer just makes it easier to get the edge of the hanger over the spacer in the heat shield.
