I normally send the bike straight to the PPF installer right from the dealer, after the purchase, but it appears the level of customer service from PPF installers in my area has gone in the toilet; hence4th I’m looking for a second set of fairings.

Are there any aftermarket fairings you guys would recommend- fit well, holes drilled correctly, mirrors fit, very little additional work required, etc? Cheers.

If you’re looking for minimal work, I’d suggest getting the Ducati track fairings and get them painted or buy OEM take offs.

I had Moto XP, and they are Chinese with a questionable paint job. Mine didn’t have any decals. I think if your ordered one of their sets with all the stickers it would help to hide all the trash in the paint. The fit isn’t terrible, but did require some work.

Flamingo is much higher quality, but fiberglass and don’t fit or work with OEM. They are easier to take on and off though. More akin to race fairings. They may have something that is ABS and more like the OEM though.

I think Vultur Bike uses Ducati, but they are pretty expensive. I have a tank cover from them and it’s high quality.

Carbon fiber is a money pit. Stick with Fullsix or Ilmberger if you go down that road. Ilmberger is the OEM for Ducati Performance…allegedly.

Thank you for all the feedback!!

Is anyone aware if the tank cover, which comes with the aftermarket fairings, will scratch/cause blemishes to the actual fuel tank under it? I’m wondering due to the vibration of the bike, but I also want some sort of protection on the tank- either have a piece of PPF installed or get the tank cover with the set. Cheers.

All of the tank covers will damage the tank under it. I even tried putting some tape down and it went right through that. Maybe PPF would stand up to it, but I don’t think that’s likely.

PPF wont stand up. Best is to get the protective film for the tank and apply liberally. The tank edges are the first to get chipped and rubbed.

What? So PPF (paint protective film) and “protective film” are two distinctly different products to you?

The film I am referring to is a clear plastic adhesive that you cut into various shapes and apply on the tank. The material is much thicker than PPF. I had used PPF before and the tank edges all got chipped and rubbed off.

Cheers. Which film did you use and which would you recommend? Did you ever try applying the film and placing the tank cover over the film? I have experience with the majority of PPFs out there and have been pretty happy. They’ve just gotten substantially more expensive.

I used 3M clear protective sheets and a roll of clear tape. I had applied PPF before on my 1299 tank and then placed a CF tank cover. But due to the constant vibrations, the tank cover kept rubbing through the PPF and then scratched the edges of the tank - and on the Ducati tank decal.

Can you post a link of what you used?

Hey sure,

This is what my service guy recommended to me in Singapore. I got a fiber glass tank cover from Vulturbike, so cut and applied the 3M sheet on the tank. Does its job well.

For reference - the tank cover on my 1299S

I would recommend to try the Gorilla transparent tape, you can also add several layers. I have had good luck with that.
