But what about the heat you were worried about from the Panigale? I assume you know it has the same engine basis and all that right?

The 1198SP was my choice at first, i was really sold on that bike back in late 2011. Fortunately, all the dealer were out of the SP model (last new sold for $18k, a steal), so it forced to me wait for the 2012 Panigale.

The biggest different for me, the 1198SP is like riding a classic(to me) superbike, big torque, high seat, long reach to the bar.

The Panigale is like riding a supersport but with 2x the power, nimble, compact, light weight.

That was an issue with the Panigale. For some reason I have not had the same experience with the 1198. Its barely there. The pipes have been coated, so not sure if that makes that much of a difference. I really don't feel much of anything from the engine or exhaust. I just attribute it to now my lower body is positioned on the 1198 versus the 1299. Weird.......

First of all 2wheelfreak, your'e a better man than I. I commend you on your purchase,
I really did love my 1198SP.. I did however speak to our good friends here at Ducati Omaha and Jarel J set me up with my new spring according to my weight. I then took my bike to get the suspension dialed in by my technician (you have to sit on the bike with your regular riding gear for this whilst he and someone else sets the the SAG)...

Suspension

I hope this helps and congrats on your purchase

Just because I love my 1199s more than my previous 1198SP doesn't necessarily mean it would be a better bike for everyone, so I see your point.

PA! Thank you. Greatly appreciated. I'll look into it. I know all about the SAG - I do it with my dirt bikes when I get the suspension setup and dialed in on them as well.

Thanks. Those two areas I've bolded were other additional reasons for my choice over the Pani. The 1198 SP fits me much better than the Pani.

The bike

Well here it is. Perfect Ducati for me.

Ok. Time to close this chapter of motorcycle history and off to new ventures...
