Question on Slip-On Pipes

Hi guys, I'm not entirely sure if this would be better posted in the Mech/Tech section, but I'm sure it'll be moved if it should be (sorry Mods).

Okay. So quick and simple question is this: Does a slip on remove the flapper valve? My buddy asked me for a walk-around video of the bike and when I was holding my camera to show/hear the pipe, it caught footage of the flapper doing it's thing. I don't like it :( My 1000rr had a flapper, and the slip on completely removed the flapper (and cat, and a ton of sh-t weight). I ended up going full system later on, but that's another story.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

No, the up map disables it and it stays in the open position. At least that's what it did for my 1199S.

So I guess it kind of does get rid of it lol....

So the slip on attaches at the joint just in front of the valve? You can see it right at where the chain is there... Sorry for the .... pic. It's a screen shot of the video I took. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431981760.663825.jpg

The slip on Y pipe normally connects to the header part where the flapper valve is located, so the answer is no. The valve stays after you install the slipons. There's people who leave them in after installing slip-ons (the flapper stays open when disconnected or deactivated), and some actually take the time to Dremel the shaft to remove the valve altogether.

The flange that the slip-on connects to is to the rear of the flapper valve.

You can just unplug the flapper if you don't want it. On the 1199 and 899 doing so won't trigger a check engine light. The 1299 may be different, but I doubt it.

I ordered the Vizi-Tech today since I am working on installing the RB Module and Termi Front Exit Slip-ons.

Vizible Technologies | vizi-tec

Removing the entire cable assembly and servo. I am not using an up-map so I thought I should get this to prevent a warning light.

That's what I'll be getting, if I go the slip-on (or full system) route. I'll see how the piggy-bank looks after the riding season.

Unplug the servo before buying an eliminator.

I made that mistake, and luckily was able to return the servo buddy.

Doesn't the flapper valve only muffle sound when you're cruising along? It's open when you're accelerating, as far as I understand it, so the engine is loud and breathing freely when you're on the gas, and not loud and blowing your ear drums out if you're riding slab. Why would you want to disable or disconnect it?

Also, anyone who has the Termi front-exit slip on -- please report back? And take pics!!! Is it awesome? Does it sound better? Is it louder???

I want one.

That's not how it works

The valve closes around 3000 at about 60 kph in top gear. Sounds like you have dropped a cylinder. Its a noise reduction thing for drive by noise tests. Big topic here when the bikes first came out.

Disconnecting the cable does no harm.

Termignoni slip ons come originally with a plug that substitute the servo. The installation instruction also covers removing the servo mechanism.
Only the butterfly valve itself is left (as it is in front of the Y pipe), but it is sprung to open position by default, so it no longer has any effect on noise/performance (well, it shouldnt affect performance anyway).

that's what I read on the install manual.

What happens with the slip-on Akra's for the 2015 Panigale-R - cats & flapper valve remain or are the cats in the stock cans ?

Glad there is no big lump of metal in the middle of my exhaust flow.
