Just watched the press release. Still cannot believe the R9 is real. Love the motor that Yamaha is using…

I grew up surrounded by 750cc and 900cc sportbikes, so I’m happy to see this bike segment come back. That said, I would prefer neither come back and the manufactures focused on an 800cc sportbike, which always seemed to be the ideal sweet spot between a 600 and liter bike. Would love to see a Yamaha R8, Kawasaki ZX-8R, Suzuki GSXR800, etc.
 
At $12.5k, equipped like it is, this bike is going to take over the "mid weight" class. Both for street riders and racing.

I was at the track yesterday and spoke with two different people who already have deposits / down payments on one.

Mid weight is the new 1l category. Because true 1l bikes will be banned soon
