Just had an exhilarating run. Touched 140mph so easily and smoothly.(disclaimer: I am not telling the truth for any LEO's that may be lurking!) Before the flames about speeding start; let me state that for those who may not be familiar with Long Island; we have a stretch of road along the ocean (aptly named ocean parkway) with literally miles of straight road with no exits or entries and only horizon ahead. It's a locally known "proving ground" and unofficial speed testing bit of road. To see a car or two in either direction on a weekday morning is rare. Troopers even more rare. Essentially, it is a section of "closed circuit" that can be safely exploited. Thus, 140 and more can be easily had but the expansion joints on the road start to intrude on anything faster, I have found.

The race mode standard electronic default levels are perfect for the twists and long sweepers that we have on one section known as the Wantaugh parkway (named for the Wantaugh native Americans who once lived there in pre colonial times). The throttle response is insane and the higher rpm fuel pump flat spots noted by others has not been an issue for me thus far.

Actually, my bike has ZERO ISSUES and I attribute it partly to my somewhat respecting the break in process

If not for daily traffic, I'd never take it out of Race Mode!!

I just friggin' love this bike. Now I get to go and bolt on more carbon I picked up!!

What was somewhat respecting? I ran my bike for 200miles under 6k (mostly) and since then have done another 100 using the revs more often and some full rev runs too, using it fairly hard but not caning it. Hasn't used any oil and is loosening up all the time. After 600 miles i'm going to use it all.

I think we all have our moments of stupidity where we do something on our bikes that we shouldn't, me included. :) I don't have a problem with your triple digit blast on a deserted road. Running wide open for 20+ miles in and out of traffic is another story. Nevertheless, glad you're enjoying your bike. I always ride in race mode, why bother with the other two LOL.

Nice, I think I might try this, is this by Jones Beach. The Highways here in City there is always some type of traffic and lots of pot hole, road lumps and road work. I wonder if OAB rides there too since he's from LI. ;)

Yes, the stretch east of the jones beach tower out towards Captree boat basin. You also have to take the Wantaugh north from the tower and turn around and head back at 27....then do a few laps around the tower rotary working on your lean angle!!

I'm with you.. I switch it to Sport to Race mode in the canyons after I noticed the suspension getting a little loose/soft at speed. I couldn't believe the throttle response, while not too abrupt but perfect! I'm was in heaven :D and the suspension settings in Race mode made a hugh difference!

Ya know I've yet to put it in race mode. I do note going from 195 lo to 195 hi is incredible in terms of the difference in throttle response! Amazing.
