Race plastics - need recommendation

Thanks all for the input! I talked with Nate at Duc Pond and he recommended I go with the DP set because of the fit/finish and because it's the easiest to swap out when I want to go back to street riding. He also mentioned it will be <$1K (before paint) for the whole kit sans belly pan.

DP set is a great option for track days but keep in mind that it will not hold up well in a crash. It's ABS plastic - it's gonna crack and/or shatter just like stock bodywork will.

If you intend to push or potentially race, I would not recommend DP. If you're doing a few track days a year and just having a good time, it's probably perfect.

Copy/Paste here.. had sent this to another member.

I got the windscreen, tank, IMU and DZUS fasteners options included (basically everything). However the windscreen fasteners that came with the kit were waay bigger than the screen eyelets. I could have used them, but I would have had to not only drill out the nose, but also enlarge the windscreen eyelets. Probably could have been done, but there wasn't a ton of material left to work with, so I opted to just re-use the stock ones.

I didn't need any extra fasteners from Ducati. The ONLY thing I need extra was some flange nuts to go on the 2 bolts where the outer IMU mounts attach. basically it used the threaded clip that was on the old fairing, but doesn't exist on these. Also, you will be short 1 Dzus fastener if you only opt for the 10 pack, since the left side lower uses for 4 instead of three. You will need/want an additional kit. You can get it from them or just order some 17mm Dzus fasteners yourself. I know they sell the black chrome ones instead, if you want them to be a little more incognito. I'll probably pick up a set of the black ones off Amazon or w/e.

As far as fitment, honestly, the hardest part was the nose/intake ducts. The duct doesn't actually attach to anything. It's supposed to slide into the neck/frame and then the front clip just pushes up against it.. However, it doesn't fit. Once you have the headlight assembly off and can see into the air filter, the tract has two eyelets hanging down into the opening. These are just the tip of the iceberg with regard to the fitment. I basically cut out the entire top side of the square end of the intake that goes into the neck, as a relief opening, which allowed it to slide back into place. It's tricky getting the depth where you want it and required me to cut some, then refit the nose, then cut again, refit etc. etc. until I got it where it needed to be and still held the intake in snug. Once I got the depth about right, the nose angle needs to come up a bit, but the intake would come into contact with the IMU, which is bad. IMU won't like any vibration, which is why it is rubber isolated 2x over.

If I had enough time, I would have just waited and got the Motoholders or even better the MWR fairing stay which has the ducts built in..

The side panels and lowers are really dependent on the nose being in its proper position, but once you have that, they are fairly easy. The lowers are a little tricky where the overlaps are underneath and the mid side tabs. I just opted for zip ties on the mids and the bolt on the front overlap, with a zip tie for fallback/safety.

Anyway, GOOD LUCK! Just remember it's track body work and it's not perfect, but gets the job done of saving the expensive stock stuff from damage.

Thank you for the detail write up.

I don't have the skill or patience to do what you did to get it fit. Lol.

People say DP track Fairings will not hold up well but I use them as throw away and not as repeatable use for racing.

My fairings from MotoXP are finished and shipping on Monday - should be here by August 7th!

I'll report back my initial impression and again once I find the time to get everything mounted to the bike.

Fairings are here. Once we nailed down a final proof design these things were painted and shipped within 2 weeks.

Initial impressions are positive...so far these guys are 10/10 in terms of customer service and initial product quality. I will reserve final judgement until after I've installed them--fitment is the most important test!

I look forward to checking these out in person.

My fairings came on my bike "race prepped" dont know the brand , but cheaper Chinese. The MWR air ducts didnt fit well , but I cut a fair amount out of the nose cone openings the fibreglassed the ducts in place and onto the fairing stay , came up quite well.

I finally got around to fitting up the MotoXP bodywork. Overall I'm really happy with the fitment.

I got the economy paint job which is the lower tier option but it looks great. It's just a white base coat with a sticker decal kit and clear coat over that. My only complaint is the paint lines on the tank cover and side fairings don't match up. They offered for me to send back the tank cover so they could re-paint it but once I apply the tank grip pads you'll barely notice and at the end of the day, it's a track bike so I didn't care that much. I am glad they offered to fix it but opted out.

They seem really strong and have kevlar reinforced areas on all the mounting points.

Bottom line I would definitely recommend these guys. Customer service is excellent and they shipped within a week after we agreed on a final design.

Still needs stickers and number plates so in another few months it will look even better.

I have not fitted the oil pan yet because I still need to remove the exhaust cans and cooling fan before getting into that. Hopefully that doesn't cause too many head aches....will report back eventually when I get around to that.
