Hi All,

I am currently running a 15R on the track. I live in Dubai and we have some quite high temperatures here, especially in summer time. Until now, I have been using an upper and lower MAC radiator system (pls see pic), however, the bike has a tendency to run very warm on the track.

I am considering going for a full WSBK radiator system, but in doubt if I will experience any significant difference from the setup I have. I can see that some of the full radiator systems cover a larger area compared to my current system.

Do anyone have any experience with which radiator systems provide the most cooling and if there are any difference between the brands out there?

Looking forward for some advise :):):)

I don’t have any advice for the radiators available, but your photobucket link is dead

I do know that if you don’t overheat & fans work you’d be ok...if you’re not competing then simply running on higher side of temps isn’t a bad thing

What temps are you experiencing?
Did you leave your fan and fan shroud fitted, or have you dumped them?

Standard coolant, or something like water wetter or other non glycol additives?

Sorry for that - I hope the pic is working now.

When it is +40 degrees outside, the bike will run around 105-108 degrees at the end of a session.

The fan is gone as no room due to the radiator.

I run standard coolant but I have been considered if I should try Engine Ice or similar.....

Mine does this as well (Febur rad, no fan). As soon as you come off the track T starts shooting up...I coast into my pit...turning the bike off. Last year it was really climbing and Brian found the pump had sheared a pin (thread somewhere here) and that was the cause-

102 - 105 is around where the fan cuts in on mine so I'd say you're alright. The fact you are in 40+ heat I'd actually say you're running exceptionally well.

Sounds exactly the same as mine.....so did you replace the pump or what was the solution?

.....and how was the result after fixing the issue?

Yes, replaced pump. Made a big difference. If we're at Chuckwalla in the hot desert...it just gets hot...even through leathers coasting into the pits...really hot.

I'm just in the middle of fitting the same radiator kit. The standard fan unit will
fit if you dont add an oil catch pan. If you have the oil catch pan, then you still
have room to fit a different fan unit across the rear of the lower oil/water rad.

I had a couple of spares fans from a 2011 multistrada and its possible to
mount one on a couple of bits of aluminium flat bar from the original fan bolts.
Plug is the same as the pani harness too.

Engine Ice will not do anything for running any cooler....the name sounds like it would, but it won't....it is merely marketing wizardry - the only real difference it's chemical make up, being environmentally friendly....yes, that is it - you can call them directly and they will tell you that yourself (if you don't believe me)

While I was searching for a "too much heat" solution myself I ended up calling them and discovered the truth

I also came across an article on thermodynamics (try google, you'll find it) & how internal combustion Motorcyle engines are designed within defined parameters of engine heat - it quickly made me realize "not to worry" - maybe it will do the same for you

I replaced the stock coolant with SuperCool with WaterWetter and have noticed a 10 degree drop in engine temp while riding - and that's the key... it's magic happens while the engine is revving, not sitting at idle. A couple degree cooler at idle. Great product!

Sounds interesting - water however is the best for transferring heat - WaterWetter is merely a lubricant for the water pump - there is however no denying your temperature guage - Engine Ice just won’t do what you’ve found SuperCool did for you

I ha e the MAC larger lower radiator which come with a fan cowling that makes it fit fine. I did not however install it....it’s still sitting in the box. I live in Saudi and track in Bahrain.

Before you ask why I didn’t install it I had my shoulder rebuilt and have been recovering for the last 3 months. If you want to give it a try I can sell it to you for $400 bucks as I will probably land up selling my bike this summer.

Pm me

On the cars I build we use water wetter on the one's that have limited cooling. It works. It's made to help heat transfer off the outside cylinder walls and hot spot's in the motor. Better transfer.
