My RB Shift assist arrived today. Nice of RB not to include a shift rod! but never mind.

Has anyone on here fitted and set one up, Just looking for pointers before I start

Thanks

I'm getting ready to fit mine once this negative temperature bs clears up. As far as no shift rod, they normally come with a generic center section that you need to size to the bike, get in touch with Yaman at rapidbike USA, he should be able to get one to you.

My RB shift came with a "generic" shift rod, but I had to cut it down to the right size for it to fit correctly. I absolutely love my 1199 after fitting the downshift blipper.

Looks like mine was missing. How easy is it to set up?

"hardest" part was cutting the rod, but even that was easy, just size it up right next to the oem rod and use that as a reference for rod length.

After wiring up the RB assist, it was a pretty easy set up. Just follow the instructions and adjust the preload setting to fit your preference for how sensitive the shift sensor is when shifting.

Did yours also come with Rose joints?

There are 2 different versions of the shift assist. One(the original one) only works In 1 direction at a time. Meaning that it can either work for upshifting OR for downshifting but NOT both at the same time. The other (which is quit a bit more money) does both up and down as well as auto blip but it does not work with every bike. RB told me that I can only use the d version on my 2013 hypermotard.

I just took mine out for the first time today(I live in MI like the other guy and it have been -0°f alot lately) and it will take some getting used to. It seems very sensitive. Does anyone care to share their custom settings and w huh ichat bike they are using it on?

It is the latest up and down shift version. I have the RB Evo with the latest firmware

I had to set mine up on the RB software as the downshift was not activated. Also pay to adjust the RPM activated points for your liking.

As for shift rod, I modifed one of the ones which came with my DP rearsets. Plan B was just to cut down the one that came with my Tuneboy sensor.

Only adjustment I needed to do was play with the preload setting to adjust how sensitive the shifting was, after that, it shifts up/down very smooth.
