Anyone dealing with significantly dark brake fluid, both of my resivors are super dark!!!

Forza Azzurri!!

Tis the first lot of fluids to go through them.

If you're worried, give 'em a flush with some new gear and they'll probably be fine.

All three of mine were getting dark rather soon...the clutch and rear brake at a faster rate. I asked my dealer if that was normal and he said yes. Either way I put some fresh fluid in...made me feel better.

This happened to me relatively quickly (during the first 1,200-mile weekend) and then the clutch failed at or about 1,700 miles. It is heat related.

I solved the issue by putting in new fluids; however, a few days later I had my bike into the shop to have the Termi full-system installed and they replaced the fluids with Motul 660 high-temperature hydraulic fluid, which appears to be working.

The only down-side is that the Motul 660 is about $33 a bottle instead of $4 a bottle for the usual hydraulic fluid.

Motul 660 also is far more hydroscopic than standard DOT fluid and needs to be replaced far more often. (And once you open a bottle by the time you need to use it again the 'new' fluid will no longer be good....well, probably good enough for the street if stored/sealed properly I wouldn't depend on it at the track.)

Motul should start selling fluid in motorbike-friendly quantities.
