So I’ve had several thumb and index finger brakes on my bikes. Most notably IMA and Diccattiati…but I just got my RACETORX kit and it’s by far the best kit out there that I’ve seen or touched…the machining is really good, overall quality and design is the best if the three, and most importantly the RACETORX kit comes complete including the adaptors and brake lines needed to make it work with your existing foot brake.

Reasonable price too.

Please post some more pics when you get it mounted. I take it the line runs to the ABS unit with a double banjo on top of the existing rear line?

No because I only use the rear brake at the track in track abs mode, where there is no rear abs…I generally leave the bike in that mode.

With the Discattisti and IMA stuff I just eliminated the rear master cyclinder and foot control altogether…but the cool thing about the RACETORX kit is that it comes with an adapter plate that connects the thumb brake master cylinder to the existing rear foot brake MC where the reservoir line comes out of the foot brake MC. Pretty clean way of doing it. Much easier install and setup.

One thing to note though, it’s a PITA to get the brakes bled properly in this setup. Best and easiest way to do it is to get one of those $50 pressurized brake bleeder pumps and reverse bleed it by pushing brake fluid upward from the rear brake to the thumb brake on the clipons.

I wonder if it would be easier to bleed it prior to installing the thumb master. Hook everything up and bleed it with the master being lower than the caliper and bleeder.

I think not, the bubbles like to rise and are easier the get out the higher the thumb brake MC is. It actually helps to not put the MC on the clipon and turn it so the reservoir outlet is upward.

I ended up putting a second pull lever on the left handlebar for the rear brake and using the stock rear master cylinder by converting the low pressure side to high pressure

It works with the abs?

Rear brake set up.

The RACETORX setup is essentially exactly like that, but instead of having to weld a bung for the banjo bolt onto the reservoir outlet of the rear brake MC it comes kitted with one of several pre-made junction valves designed to fit whatever type of rear MC the bike has.

Racetorx kit in my 1199 . Kept the abs and ran line to the pump. Fully removed rear foot brake .mine is a full road bike so I had to adjust the steering lock stops to avoid the unit touching fairings
