i noticed because i check them every 1500 miles(every oil change) or when i bleed the brakes, but the clips rings were both pinched in the holes and i had to use pliers to kinda twist and work them out on both sides, the nut rotated enough to pinch the ring pin between the nut and the hole in the hub..
they are bent of course just a bit, but i guess they did their job. i use lithium grease on the threads and torque to 170ft/lbs . the hole lines up dead center at 170 every time. theres no ovaling of the holes in the wheel, because it did not come loose completely .. just wondering if you guys have similar experience.. the sprocket side i am guilty of not checking for over 3k miles. that wont happen anymore. LABOR OF LOVE FOR SURE.
im actually looking forward to the 10k service.. get in those guts again. LOL
i forgot to mention i put just a smidge of grease under the face of the nut and the steel washer to help it slip just a bit so i cant get a more accurate true 170ft/lbs, might this be the reason they backed off just a bit. .. or maybe the cold weather played a part.. idk...just curious.
