I keep hearing about issues regarding heat and spring rate too stiff on the rear. My thoughts are that the bike was designed around being used a certain way and if it is then heat isn't an issue and the spring isn't too stiff.

If you ride at pace and wear leathers. No problem with heat.

If you ride at pace with track tire pressure and use a late apex and trail braking with aggressive straightening of the bike on exit, spring isn't too stiff.

Am I out of my mind?

I have found heat isnt an issue if you're in gear and riding fast, its an issue if in jeans or worse especially if you're commuting. Also your local climate is going to make it more of a problem(or not). Cant comment on the stock 1199 shock but its a case of it depends and has it been set up for your weight, also are you riding street as well? As for technique also cant comment, but will say when my oem spring had too much preload I had major issues with it spinning up on exit and instability under braking.

Mental health? got a Ducati; 10 out or 10
