Rear Suspension too stiff

Go to RaceTech.com - they have a great search function for determining proper spring rates - as does Ducati Omaha (although I didn't see their front spring rate charts) - RaceTech will display stock rates as well

How do you calculate the front spring? I am getting the Insert/TTX GP deal Ohlins has going on.

Ask Ohlins directly - I don't have their number handy, but Google ohlinsusa call and ask for Motorcyles Tech dept - if you can't find the number pm me and I'll dig it up from my desk at work

Nope. Front's a lot closer to proper rate than the rear out of the box, so you wouldn't want to go below a 9.5N (stock is 10.0N). I'm in the 150-155 range in my skivvies and run 9.5 up front and 80 in the back, which as it happens is what Shane Turpin ended up running on track on the Boulder Motorsports 1199. How many turns of preload are you running up front now for how much loaded sag?

How is street compliance with 80 rear shock? I'm 155 as well and I'm considering to do 75 and keep it in F setting.

Weird, I went there, pressed "Calculate Spring Rates and Display Available Springs", entered my weight, clicked "Calculate Spring Rate", and it refreshed with nothing filled in...

i didn't think they had the data set up for the 1199 yet....that be why

You're right - I tired other Ducatis and it works fine - I need to find one similar, maybe just a 1098.

Here:

Ohlins USA: 1-828-693-4525 press 1 for Motorcycles, then ask for Street Tech Support - Jeremy was a contact for me for a while

Be prepared...they will ask for the number on the bottom of your forks, and the number on the spring of the rear shock, which tells them exactly what you have

Better, for sure. I like to run sag for the street at 40/30 F/R, and my preloads came out right with those spring rates. I look for around 10-12mm preload from free length at my desired sag to determine if my spring rate is where it needs to be. Couldn't get enough sag with all the preload off on the stock springs, but it was close enough to know I didn't have to go too far. Rate reco's came from Dan Kyle, and they've proved good. I think a 75 might cause the rear to ride too low underway unless you wound in more preload than you'd typically want to. Link is on F, BTW.

That number is disconnected now, so I used 800-336-9029. I had a nice chat - he recommended 9.5/85 with my 190lb weight (helmet / Corse jacket / jeans / half boots). He also said to set the pivot to F (I am at P). Another interesting thing, he said you can vary the 2 front springs, using a 10/9.5, creating an effective 9.75.

Actually, I have split 9.5/10.0 in mine now. 9.5 will be better once I redo the internals, but my Marzocchis' guts are finally starting to die so the extra support works as an interim solution.

....yes they are very informative....and since you own the product, it is nice getting the information from them directly, as you never know how many variations you would eventually hear from any number of "experts"

-- you are just lighter than i am.....whats your height ?

-- you definitely would benefit from a full set of leathers, of which i have quite a few (2pc Dainese only) i'm looking to sell :)

-- no jeans please !
