Hi,

I noticed the Circlip (chain side) has been getting bitten and twisted, where it passes into the retaining holes.

So bad, that on two occasions it had got pulled through excessively, stopping the paddock stand fitting through the axle.

I have my 1st service this week, so will ask, however, would prefer to understand some background on the problem.

Q. Does it sound like loose nuts?

Q. Does the wheel tighten from both sides - same torque to both nuts?

Thanks for any info, as I've never taken a wheel off!

I dont know if the recall about the hub not getting greased as anything to do with it happening.....I am sure you will find out in the first services.

i put a small ziptie on the ring-ends to secure them in advance. works fine so far.

can't imagine the nut to open itself...

A: Maybe. Can't hurt to check it.

A: No. The wheel tightens from the right side only. The hub tightens from the left (chain) side. They may have different torque specs, but since Ducati haven't published them for 1199 I'm not comfortable posting any for it. However, if this was an 1198, which uses the exact same hub assembly with 48x1.5 threads, the torque spec would be 230 Nm for both sides according to the factory service manual.
