I recently bought an 1199 and it came without a dash and no keys. I have replaced the ignition so now i have keys and i have also bought a used ebay dash. when i turn the key the dash lights up but reads unknown error. what can I do to get this bike to run?

p.s- the throttle bodies dont calibrate and the fuel pump doesnt prime.

howdy...i think the dash and ignition have to be mated....but not sure...
what i do know is i am parting out a complete 1299, and have a few 1199 parts left...let me know if you need anything at all bud

I'm pretty sure it's the ECU and ignition that need to be paired. I replaced my dash without any issues.

I’m buy and sell salvage bike like I have 3 S1KRR one them has busted tft and the board inside just wet couldn’t save it like I did the other that I replaced the lcd,so I bought a used tft at eBay it works but when I try to turn on the bike mileage on tft it turn red that not suppose to so I decided to take it in to my dealership to get them coded together so now both ecu and tft miles are the same, so I’m think Ducati will do the same ecu, ignition switch and cluster to be coded together to able to communicate at the same time.

And I do have salvage 21’ Panigale V4 right now working on it.

I've rebuilt an 899 and an 1199s.
I did not have to match ignition with ECU or dash. I did not have to match ECU with the dash either. The Ignition from 899 or 959 will work on 1199.
ECU + BBS + Dash + ABS unit + Harness must come from 1199 or 1199s model but not necessarily the exact same bike.
The only thing I had to match from the same bike was Dash and BBS or an error will appear.

Make sure everything is connected. Same thing happened for me and I had an opened circuit on my harness + I had a faulty fuel pump fuse.

Glad to know this, I’m planning to buy another Panigale V4 cluster and headlights are cheaper than S1KRR, so is the ecu miles and cluster miles on Ducati will not match right unless you pair them?

I don't believe the ECU retains any mileage information. I think it's all kept in the dash so it doesn't need to be matched (at least for the 99 models).

Is this salvage buy/sell a full time business of yours? I've contemplated doing that for a while but the profit margin looked so small that it didn't make sense to me even as a hobby.

Milage is in the dash and bbs. When I replaced the dash the Ducati mechanic tried to match them. He could see the original KMs but after numerous attempts and a call to some super tech in Ducati he confirmed it can't be done on the 1199 but can be on the 1299

On S1KRR once you plug it in your gs-911 diagnostic tool it will show the actual mileage bike ecu, I bought a low miles TFT off to eBay around 1k miles and my bike ecu odometer miles is around 5k then when they coded my txt both ecu and tft odometer reads the same 5k miles, and you cannot alter the true miles of the bike bcoz it’s restored in the ecu.

Its a hobby and a little profit that I’m enjoying as well, I usually buy salvage bike that a little bit of money to spend to rebuild it so I can sell in a reasonable price, while enjoying riding before selling it.

Yeah I guess it's a BMW thing to prevent tampering. And I guess Ducati probably stores it in the dash as well as in the BBS like @Disco mentioned

When I installed a new dash on my track bike the dash was showing - kms. So programmed it with the bbs and it took the higher number mileage which was the dash as the bike has lower kms that what is actually showing
