Ducatis flag ship model ?
Not fit for purpose sold it just ordered new multistrada gt can't wait

Sounds like a sportbike wasn't in the cards for you since you went to the mts gt. There are a few members here who have had some serious issues as well, but for the most part not many. There are also members who have had numerous issues, TransNone13 comes to mind, but yet they keep coming back for more.

Also sounds like they ran out of loctitite when they assembled yours.

All my Kaw's going way back have a before you ride checklist that included tightening bolts/nuts, and they were smooth inline 4s. Just sayin'...

Tons of other bikes- I do not recall problems, but then I retain good memories, not bad.

Ducati 1199 - 1800 miles, 11 months, NO problems.

Barely broken in. TBH, my issues didn't crop up until after 8,000 or so. It's ok, it's fixed for now, again. Going to a lot to teach my friend how to ride his 848 EVO, >.>.

I'm too deep on the bike to switch. I'm going to ride it out, haha pun, and when I can get a HP4 in a couple years whilst keeping the 1199. I learned I need a back up bike.

I don't complain too much, because they have opted to fix EVERYTHING and my service guy in Tucson is a stand up guy. I am worried about after my warranty expires, but it's even got a shiny new dash! NO SCRATCHES! :D

I do enjoy the sex appeal. This bike is my bitch lover.

Firstly I don't know if, "Recall," is an accurate term for this new up map. Secondly I don't know why people freak when they hear the word: recall. To me, it shows that the manufacturer is continually monitoring their product and addressing things as they come up.

In my humble opinion...

In regards to a recall and to calm the masses that panic at the wisper of a recall,
a recall is generally to fix a saftey issue that can (by design or part flaw) fail and cause significant damage/injury to the vehicle and/or the rider/passenger. For the majority the "company standards" are; if it cost less to issue a recall (releasing liability from date of recall forward) and replace the defected part for all affected models than it does to just "ride it out" (no pun intended) and pay out and settle any legal suits that may arise due to the lack of a recall, the majority of manufactures will opt for the cheaper for the two. While yes Ducati seams to want to promote a image of love and loyalty for the customer, I'm sure that their love and loyalty to $$$ comes 1st. If it is cheaper to issue a recall, then it's a guarantee that they will issue it.

They may even issue an optional quick fix instead of a recall to apease few but not all of the buyers. For example "Heat shield". That in general accomplishes the image of taking care of the customer while at the same time maintaining the bottom line. ($$$)

Now as for any and all recalls, I for one welcome them with open arms. I much rather spend the time at the stealership having a needed recall fixed than to spend my time picking up the pieces of the bike or of myself because a recall wasnt issued and I'm just one of the unlucky few that the company gambled against issuing a recall just to save $$$.

Lastly, with any new 1st model vehicle, car, motorcycle or whatever, you can expect recalls, flaults or flaws that can be repaired, replaced or ignored. Just a fact on new model vehicles. If you as a customer are too worried or scared of recalls then don't bother buying a new model vehicle and being the first kid on you block with it. Just wait until its been out for years and to have all the bugs out to buy it new or very used.

Recalls

Sorry icucar!
I thought that this is a Ducati forum where people discuss the good and bad points of owning a motorcycle ?
The fact that you are tired of people your words winning perhaps you should only read the positive treads that way you can smile all day
You are totally missing the point if you read between the lines
You will understand that my problems were not recalls.

I agree that is the purpose of the forum but if you read my comments, they weren't directed at you Wayne. It was intended to be a posted opinion that may be informative to those concerned with the long list of problems/recalls on a new model bike. Your case is one of the unfortunate few with a bad bike all over. The talk of recalls/worries/complaints came up in this thread (as well as others) so I added my opinion to hopefully educate on the corperate mentality of recalls.

Wayne, I feel your pain. I just dropped off my Pani YET AGAIN yesterday...this time it is something new, I had half of my normal stopping power with a painful screech coming from the rotors. On a lighter note, I got my V3 dashboard in finally and got my exhaust wrapped :D. I am very frustrated but at the same time, I smile everytime I plow corners. I took my loaner 1098S on a twisty run yesterday and it felt like a very good sounding LazyBoy in corners in comparison to the Pani.

Sorry for the hijack, but I wanted to ask about your dealer's loaner program. None of the dealers around here that I know of do that. Is this common with other people's dealers as well? It sure would be nice to be able to ride out there and drop off my bike and then ride back rather than have my wife drive 1.5 hours each way to pick me up and then bring me back when the bike is ready. :)

Ditto :(

I hope my wording did not cause this exchange  When I said "recall" in my post, I meant it as "I don't remember" any problems with past bikes (or old girlfriends either for that matter). As for recalls on this bike, there have only been like 2 or 3, and none of them ended up haing to be done on my bike. Just trying to say a lot of us have had no issues, and people (majority it seems) come to forums to sort out problems.

What do you think the over/under is that I'm going to have to bring my bike back to the shop this month (again)?

That's why I asked about the loaner thing. In the past I have never needed a trailer, but I am starting to think I'll need one to save my marriage. :)

I bought one for $850 (3,000lbs Gross), bolted on a chock and there you have it.

I wish I could meet some other riders, here they are squidly and far and few in between.

I much prefer this loaner program, but it sounds like I'll need a trailer. :(

This is all you need:
