Redding Does it Again

Bit of a harsh judgement of Redding, it's an offhand comment and journo's have meltdowns over any utterance by sports stars. Most of the top riders are stage-managed to the point where they appear to have undergone a personality endectomy.

Not how I’d handle it. But Redding is known to be kind of a hot head wear-his-emotions-on-his-sleeve kind of guy. BMW knew what they were getting into. And he’s not exactly wrong. Seems they haven’t made headway over the break either them muddling midpack.

I love the non-cookie cutter quotes Redding gives as well. MotoGP and WSBK are better served when they have entertainment and Redding definitely supplies us all with entertaining quotes.

What I think Redding forgets however is how comments like this impact the folks on the lower rung who are working hard to improve his bike. I don’t think he’s conscious of how de-motivating comments like this are to them.

Saying all of that, I like Redding and I hope that he’s more competitive this year. WSBK should be great this year with all of the new rookies and the top 3 vets returning. I can’t wait.

Craig, he had said something along the lines of how "inconsistent and unpredictable" a Ducati is. Which isn't actually untrue. There obviously in 2020 (.... calendar year) and 2021 where he saw his chances waning and I recall the comments he had made about the decision to replace Chaz Davies.

Here is another one: Scott Redding frustrated by form, eyes change of fortunes

“What frustrates me most is that Rinaldi can drive like he's on a Sunday outing with his buddies,” Redding told Speedweek. “His performance in Aragon was outstanding. I am very happy for him that he was able to win his first race.

“But we have a motorcycle from the same manufacturer and I can't even get close to it. That slows me down in the World Cup, which is not fair. I use everything the team gives me, but it doesn't work.”

“Rea's motorcycle works. And if it doesn't work, he can still make it onto the podium. If our bike doesn't work, the disadvantage is greater. We have to get this under control and improve. There is no way we can win the first race and stumble in the others. This is unacceptable."

Redding is a .....
There is being outspoken and there is being disrespectful. Lots of riders complain about their machinery, or tyres, or set up, it's what riders do, and i get it, the pressure to perform is immense. But they do it with respect to the effort being put in by everyone in the team, for the most part anyway.

But openly criticising your team, your manufacturer with cutting sarcasm doesn't make many friends, his comment when he moved to BMW that they were the only team that wanted him...... I wonder why! they let an ex world champion in Sykes go for this clown, strutting around and showing off his tatts instead of his sponsors....

At this rate he will be lucky to have a privateer SS-300 ride next year, and he's not that great, looks to me he rides for a pay check rather than a championship anyway so what's he moaning about?.....
