Reliability concerns on the track?

I've been hunting for another track bike for a month now. It's riding season so there isn't much out there worth having.

Last night I spoke to a gentleman that has a 2012 Base that's setup for the track. No suspension work, but pretty much everything else.

Crash protection
Termi Slip on
Pitbull stands including the hybrid top mount for the front with the PIN.
All original bodywork is boxed in bubble wrap.
SharkSkins track body work.
Ducati GP Quick Shifter.
LSL foot pegs.
Ducati Performance Carbon Swing Arm Guard
Motoholders fairing stay.
Cox radiator guards.
Tech Spec (Never mounted, new in package).
Speedy Moto front axle slider

2000 miles.

Those running your Panigales on the track is it worth it? I'm on a budget since giving up life on the road.

What would be a fair price for the bike?

Thanks!:)

I don't know your skill level but can tell you for the bike to be a good track bike for anything but a novice rider , you MUST put a better shock on the rear. Of all the issues and complaints about these bikes, Ducati should be ashamed of the shock. That being said, I put a Penske on mine, put a set of carts in the forks and this bike is stuck like glue, and rally easy to ride fast

I wouldn't have thought that a 1199 base or S would be considered a budget track bike. However we've no idea what your budget is! It's the replacement cost if you have a big 'off' that's scariest.

depending on your skill level it's a tough bike to ride hard and if you are on a budget i would look at a more generic brand in which replacement costs are cheaper perhaps a fire blade or a tricked up 600.

as for a fair price i'm not really sure without seeing it but i would think somewhere around the 11-12k mark

If it were me id go with something cheaper.

Its the parts cost on panigales that make the track a scary place. But if your ok with that go for it.

Remember 3100 for a replacement tank if it gets crushed. U might be able to find used stuff though. Ebay!

My bike has been dedicated to the track for 3000+ track miles. The only issues I've had are oil leaks(once with the rear cylinder, one was the counter shaft seal, the other was a breather hose which there is a recall for). From what my tech told me is when you start running this bike in the high rpms all the time, you may see these. I think all my oil issues have been solved.

I agree, the first thing you need to do is get the suspension setup. I have Bitubo and my bike handles phenomenally. Is butter smooth and go where I point it. Stock brakes are great, but I may upgrade the rotors. S wheels are coming.

Fair price is what the seller will except. I think $13-15k is appropriate. But if you can get it for $11-$12l, good got you.

He wants $15,500 which I consider high without suspension.

Like mrbrettbaker said that's typically something done right out the gate on a track bike.

Pros are the bike has been maintained by the best mechanic in this area, and all the stock bodywork is included.

The idea of the big off scares the crap out of me especially on the Panigale. They don't hold up well when crashed as we have seen.

Thanks for the input!:)

I just re-read the thread title ------ the guy I mentioned above has been racing for 2 years with no reliability problems at all.
