DON’T GET A DRY CLUTCH, and be sure to have a nice full savings account after purchasing the bike to fix all the problems I’ve come to call “privileges of ownership” and of course for all the “upgrades” you will desire to install

I'm new to Ducati but not new to riding. I've been at it for over 40yrs. I currently have four bikes. A 2014 Custom Road King., A 2009 Custom Road King, A 2018 stock Fat Boy. I've had sports bikes before, the last one was a sport-touring bike Honda 1200 VFX. I've included pics of all of them...

You can definitely develop the skills for a V4 at a young age. Age shouldn't be an issue if you treat it with the respect it deserves. Not everyone can do that (at any age)
@ArcticWhite is right. My first bike was a Street Triple 675. I stupidly bought it brand new.
That bike was like 100 horse and I could handle it. Drove it like a 250 for months until I got the balls to twist the throttle all the way. It’s very addicting
I developed decent skills and “upgraded” to a Daytona 675 (brand new again) a year later
totally took a bath on the street triple but I didn’t care cause I had to have the Daytona.
Learning on the 675s, I only almost low sided once on the street triple (gravel) but I saved it. I’m sure If I was starting out on a Ducati superbike, I would have low sided many times and probably high sided a few times too
Im proud to have become a Ducati Guy a decade into being a licensed motorcyclist, it was the right time for me, and the Duc brought a whole new level of thrill to motorcycling. GLAD I WAITED.
insurance premiums:
Daytona 675 $380 / year
Add on my 1299 and it’s $1,500 a year for both bikes
if I sold the Daytona and just had 1299 it would be closer to $2,000 per year. There’s a discount for having 2 bikes, cool right?
But also look at the difference, it’s 4x more expensive than if I never bought the Duc
But I don’t have 23k to buy the bike...you know, which 17yo has?
I’d say keep the Duc a dream for now and live your life in such a way that when it becomes time to buy your dream bike, you can. Instead of “not being allowed” because your wife doesn’t approve.....

I bought it to use it so it’s silly to not use it. Yup... except the Superleggera, that should only be used to look at while it sits on display on its motorized lazy Susan use it as a fine piece of art, not as a motorcycle
