Well then I wonder what you think of this. I want to change 5 and 6th gears in the clowncar. Easiest way to do this would be to drain everything set the bike upside down, take off the swingarm, side cases, remove the sump case and split the cases. Service the gearbox then reassemble. Oh and maybe pull the rod caps to look at the bearings as you've already seen the mains. Would save about 12 hours of labor. Doable? Pillow for the tank?
 
I have Gilles MUE2 rear sets, so I didn’t have that option because of the folding pegs. I suppose I could buy one of these if the shop rate is exorbitant:

I have the Gilles as well, I simply put a steel rod through the bike under the rearsets and supported it with jack stands...
