very sad story, killed by the people he swore and risk his life to protect.

6 years is light, the world would be a best place without her around

Such an unnecessary tragedy.

The article says the victim was a member of the US Navy. It reminded me of a story I read on the topic of a disproportionate number of Armed Forces members being killed on motorcycles. It got so bad the armed forces require extra special motorcycle training of its ranks who ride off duty.

The problem is that it's too easy for military personnel to head straight to a bike dealer with cash in hand. They figure it's easier to live with. Then when/if they get relocated the can sell the bikes quick and not take a big hit. I've met many guys/gals from the base (Nellis) that have bikes. Most of the young ones often have absolutely no experience on bikes but they have a big stack of money and a lust for speed.

RIP to the rider and thoughts go out to his family, but let's not forget an important lesson from all of this. His death was the result of BOTH PARTIES actions.

The chick is crazy and she deserves the punishment but remember that the rider kicked her car while in moving traffic. Under no circumstances should that ever be considered good decision making.

He's jointly responsible for escalating the situation. Remember that just because someone else is at fault doesn't mean you have to have the last word.

People will cut you off and drive like .... heads for the rest of your life. Let it go and ride on.

Thats quite of bit of stereotype, assumptions, lots of "they," and generalization....

so you met some gals and guys in the military.

were you ever in the military?

Truer words can not be said! LET IT GO!!!!!

I am lucky to be here enjoying my Pani and not in a cell right now. I got into a major road rage incident 3 years ago and because of a simple honk of my horn and us both not letting it go it resulted in some serious injuries to both of us. We both got charged with some serious charges but it couldve been a lot worse for me because i hurt the other guy really bad. I really was defending myself though and i did get the charges dropped but it cost me a lot of time and money.

This was a total blessing in disguise because its really changed how i drive/ride and live my life. I encounter stupid drivers here and there and i would normally go out of my way to let it be known to them but now i just LET IT GO.

RIP to the Rider

I hope prison life is unkind, and she suffers.

It was murder, and she should have got the chair for this crap

This is tough.

I wish nothing ill-hearted on the female driver.

May both parties' families be able to find peace, make amends over time, and allow forgiveness.

Yeah, don't underestimate the power of escalation; how quickly it goes up and then comes down very slowly for the rest of your life. That woman gets to think about how she killed someone for the rest of her life when the anger has long subsided......

There was another similar incident just over the weekend when some old Texas coot (69 yr old man) who swerved into a rider and his female passenger when they were trying to pass him (even though the yellow median lines were solid) on a highway because he was going 20 under the limit. The whole things was caught on tape by someone who happened to be following. His attitude was "I don't care...." even though he got 15 yrs prison time. The rider and passenger crashed but they were OK.
