This thread "http://ducati1199.com/mechanical-technical/1447-vibrations-handlebars.html" got me to thinking about my position on the bike relative to where and the type of riding I'm doing. I found that I have three distinct positions:
Highway, Street and Twisties/Canyons (we don't have canyons in the valley lol). I haven't done a track day but I would assume my riding position would be different there as well? I'd be interested to know how others position themselves on their sportbikes?
Highway:
Balls of feet on the pegs
Butt = as far back in the seat as possible
Knees = froggy style (I find that with my butt and knee position this provides max air flow to keep from roasting my ass and family jewels)
Hands = relaxed on the bars with index and middle fingers resting on the brake and clutch levers
Torso = As upright as possible
Street:
Only a slight variation from my highway position. I ride with my heels on the pegs and 4 fingers on the clutch level. This gives me quick access to the gear selector and rear brake as well as a firm pull on the clutch lever.
Twisties/Canyon:
Again building on my street position, I slide my butt forward in the seat, knees griping the tank and a slightly firmer grip on the bars. My torso tends to be a bit lower as well. On the dirt this is called the attack position, I guess for street bikes it can be called the same?
