This thread "http://ducati1199.com/mechanical-technical/1447-vibrations-handlebars.html" got me to thinking about my position on the bike relative to where and the type of riding I'm doing. I found that I have three distinct positions:
Highway, Street and Twisties/Canyons (we don't have canyons in the valley lol). I haven't done a track day but I would assume my riding position would be different there as well? I'd be interested to know how others position themselves on their sportbikes?

Highway:
Balls of feet on the pegs
Butt = as far back in the seat as possible
Knees = froggy style :D (I find that with my butt and knee position this provides max air flow to keep from roasting my ass and family jewels)
Hands = relaxed on the bars with index and middle fingers resting on the brake and clutch levers
Torso = As upright as possible

Street:
Only a slight variation from my highway position. I ride with my heels on the pegs and 4 fingers on the clutch level. This gives me quick access to the gear selector and rear brake as well as a firm pull on the clutch lever.

Twisties/Canyon:
Again building on my street position, I slide my butt forward in the seat, knees griping the tank and a slightly firmer grip on the bars. My torso tends to be a bit lower as well. On the dirt this is called the attack position, I guess for street bikes it can be called the same?

I guess what you call your highway style would be my normal riding position except that I keeps my elbows bent and out, unless I go into a tight tuck position for those top end runs, and my knees are up against the tank, relaxed not squeezing the tank, except when braking.

My other riding position would be same basic position but with the left hand on my left leg and a bit more upright. I always ride on the balls of my feel and have one finger covering the clutch and brake. I guess it is a carry over from all the dirtbike seat time.
