Sorry, I can't link it and out of respect for John Ulrich I won't upload it. That said, it's a very good review that breaks everything down from the point of view of someone riding in AMA superbike. If you have a digital subscription you can grab it now off their website.

His comments on how the chassis responds at race pace were interesting, specifically regarding the fact that it needs to be ridden really aggressively to properly load the tires. Also, didn't realize the offset on the R model was different than the S by 5mm and they are still running a longer wheelbase on it.

Other interesting comment was that an ohlins tech at the test did confirm that the electronic suspension would still function if the shim stacks were changed in the forks. The stacks as stock are C3 R3 in the fork and C5 R5 in the shock if anyone cares.

I have no idea what a shim stack for the suspension is lol. I'll grab the issue at the store later today. Thx shaka.

Ohlins has different combinations of piston and shim stack for various damping specs. The higher the number, the more damping. When people talk about getting things "re-valved for their weight/speed", this is what they are talking about changing. You could probably google a suspension dyno that would show the changes graphically.

I just found it interesting that the algorithms still work with aftermarket components in there.

Thanks shaka. I usually translate stuff to aviation items to break it down in my head lol.

Yup, saw that this morning; interesting read, with more specific commentary than the usual drivel you get with these first ride reports. According to the RRW report, the spring rates and valve stacks are the same as before, only now with the active adjustment. They say the system can adjust up to 15 clicks in one "event", which is considerably more than I'd expected. C.U. had it dialed up to full effect on both ends at Portimao and seemed to like it that way.

I was intrigued to see them running that much stiffer valve stacks in back than in front; anyone know what shim stacks Ohlins ships in the aftermarket TTX/FGR/FGK units?
