Doug in Ducati Garage w/Ernesto Marinelli

Got to visit in the garage @ Laguna w/Ernesto Marinelli (SBK chief) before race.
Too bad Chaz crashed in fast turn 6 and failed Doc's questions and wasn't allowed to race in race 2.
Here I am getting my questions answered (and giving him some advice).

I was there. Was surprised at the lack of attendance too - don't know numbers but just didn't feel crowded. Had a good time anyway and got scanned for a custom Bell Star Carbon.

I rode Tri up with five guys from LA and had a blast. Attendance was thin and seems to be slipping every year. I couldn't believe Ducati didn't have an SL in their tent, as they had every other bike and it would have made sense to have their 'halo' bike there.

Quick story to share on the ride back. Three of us are riding the 101 south back to LA, we about 50 miles north of Santa Barbara. Traffic is going about 80, I'm taking point and we are doing around 90. We round a corner and do I see - CHP parked in the corner! I didn't have any audio through the helmet but my dash was lit up like an F15 getting radar lock from SAM.

Long (great) story, he pulls me over and clocked me at 95. He gets my license and registration and goes back to the cruiser. He comes back with a ticket in hand and presents me with a "fix it ticket" for having the wrong registration ID card and nothing for speeding!

I asked him if he rides and he said he does (SV) and we spent about 20 minutes talking WSB on the side of the rode - freaking awesome! Moral of the story for me: there are some really cool law enforcement guys out there and make sure to turn the audio on my radar. :)
