Excellent. I see it came with the Marchesini Genesi wheels. Interested to know how the fuel tank is set up. Does the bike have the swingarm modification? Very nice addition to the stable and refreshing to see here. Thanks for sharing

^ thanks. The bike is exact spec as raced by Aruba except the exhaust. Wheels are to be replaced after 1200km. Swingarm is the latest longer version. Fuel tank has longer can end under seat. Full mm electronics too!

There is a good article in Performance Bikes where Michael Ritter tests Panigale R, SL and Shane Byrne BSB and then an interview with Giovanni Supi from corse who explains the bike. Worth a read.

Thank you very much for the info. Yes I heard that the race spec magnesium wheels needed to be swapped at some interval. I believe OZ (race only magnesium) are similar. I hope to be able to get around to laying up a new fuel cell and swingarm over December. Lost of stuff to play with. Is that running a Marelli or Motec system? Thanks again.

First ride went down a storm. Such a an epic ride. If you want to read about it look up bike Middle East on FB and look for the post.

Ciao.

Do the Genesi mags we can buy come with that same recommendation? (Good for 1200km)

Looking into a new set of hoops-

Technically the WSBK spec wheels are aluminium now, not magnesium. Mag wheels got banned in WSBK a couple seasons back.

Saw these and inquired. They make an M7R, M7RR and M7RS. R is Forged Magnesium. RR is Forged Magnesium (race only) RS is Forged Aluminum. I was told by Marchesini/Brembo that I could not get these for the 1199/1299 single side swing arm application in any form as of the date of my inquiry and that the photo I had was of a set of M7RR wheels on the Aruba WSBK and were only available to SB teams. If you find a way to get Genesi 7 wheels for the 1199/1299 platform, I would like to get a set.

That I think is accurate as the wheels I have (OZ magnesium DOT) have a gloss finish and I believe the WSBK OZ wheels have the matte finish which I believe are the aluminum version. I would take a set of 7's in any material.

I like those rims also. I would've liked to get a pair for my bike but it sounds like they're not available. I don't understand why? Didn't they have similar wheels on the 1198 S?

MGA I just finished reading the build of your SL on the U.K. Forum amazing bike. Then to step into this RS......envious and happy for you at the same time. Awesome story.

I was fortunate enough to see this bike a week ago when I was at the Autodrome here in Dubai. It is simply stunning and the sound is beautiful. Hands down a completely different beast than the average Panigale.

@mygreenalien - while I read the article comparing the R, SL and WSBK, how do you find the main differences? Riding the bike, what are your initial take on advantages over your former SL?

Hope you can share a bit :)

Thank you for the positive feedback chaps.

In terms of feedback from the riding the bikes, understand time on RS is one track day - but here goes.

The SL can't really be called that - we changed so much of it. That bike is simply nuts. Trying to ride a 150kg bike with +200BHP takes it out of me. It's fun for sure and handles very well but it needs more fine tuning - a softer rear spring and firmer front springs will help no end I think. I turns very quickly but has an edge of nervousness. I reckon the times I rode her I was at 60% of my riding ability; the last time I rode her (April), I set my best time on the last lap knocking 3 seconds off and I actually felt I was going slower..... so this tells me the smoother I am the faster I go - obvious I know but nice to realise in reality. Truth is, in the right hands it would slay all lap times at my track - after all the engine was built not having to follow any rules. She spins up quick and now I have autoblipper fitted its just point, squirt, turn, wait - repeat.... The sound of the bike compared to the RS.... fanny fart. I have only done 600km on her in two years mind.

So to the RS. I rode her first time nearly two weeks ago and I was rather nervous about it. The nerves soon went though - its that an impressive bike. If it were a beast/animal, trust me i'd say so.

It's a bike that gives so much feedback it gives you tremendous confidence and I can honestly say I can't wait to get back on it! The chassis at turn in, through the turn and exit is sublime. Riding position feels natural - even though the bike is LONG. Corse did say the bikes chassis is now sorted and I believe them. They told me its built to steer on the power.... Ducati set the suspension up based on my weight and feedback I gave (I like a softer feeling bike and our track here in Dubai is dusty!). From the off, it was better than any bike I have ridden - so bravo Corse! Brakes are just unbelievable with amazing feel By end of session I was beginning to trail brake and trust it..... tyre wear (Pirelli SC1 front SC2 rear) was perfect!

The MM electronics are the full factory system as per what the works boys are using and latest software (August). The electronics have TC, anti wheelie and torque control and each of these have A, B and C setting (C the most extreme); these settings I have for dry and wet so 18 maps in total! The factory set these at a "medium" setting as clearly they should be altered for each track and corner!

I rode the bike in A maps except went up to B map on torque setting in last session. What can i say.... considering the general setting they gave, it worked very well. Data showed I only took throttle to 82% so holy .... is it gonna be fast when I open her fully. I don't think the electronics were taxed at all on my first outing, so lets hope i get to feel their inputs next time out. its all very clever stuff written by very clever chaps.

The bike makes power everywhere - I don't need more. What I really like is braking hard and changing down and there not being any aggressive engine break (yet!) - this gives such confidence to turn quickly and then get on gas soonest.

A truly endearing thing about the bike is the sound - from the moment you start her up, pit lane limiter and then out on track, you hear her in the right side of your helmet - as is the exhaust is your ear - bloody brilliant!

So, with about 80km's under my belt, thats my feedback. Bring on next track day!

Great post ^^ thanks for sharing. Goes to show that setup is so much more important than simply wringing hp out of a motor. Can I call first dibs when you sell?? :)
