Even though I am bummed he is leaving Ducati, I am really excited about Rossi and Moto GP 2013!! Finally some good races! The last few seasons have kind of sucked :D

O dear, bit embarrassing for Rossi to be honest, not too fussed about all the Italian on an Itailian machine side of it, but more disappointed that Rossi couldn't win on another bike... I expect he's eating big humble pie too, kinda hoping this now means Crutchlow will get factory Ducati...?

Crutchlow looks a certainty, although I heard Stoner has been offered basically a blank cheque. He is adamant he is going though.

No one thought the Rossi ; Ducati team would end like this.

I think that's the bottom line: The MotoGP show has suffered without Rossi in the mix at the front, and Ezpeleta came out and said "VR will be on a competitive bike in 2013, PERIOD!". I think he made the deal happen, and Rossi knowing he's in his last few seasons was not willing to gamble on having another non-winning year, so he swallowed his pride and went back to his comfort zone at Yamaha, dragging a big pile of sponsors with him. Apparently he figured that the prestige of being in the mix at the front was greater than the prestige of being the Italian on the Italian bike. Personally, I think he's making a mistake. It's still a bit of a gamble for him to climb back onto the bike that Lorenzo had already beaten him on previously. So what if he goes back to Yamaha and finishes 5th in the championship in 2013 with Lorenzo winning the championship again? No one will blame the bike, so I think it might even be a BIGGER risk to his legacy! Or perhaps the "old" Rossi will be back and actually beat Lorenzo on his own turf and we can all revel in his greatness...... Time will tell....

I guess the other question is, will his paddock team be with him? I would think so but I've seen stranger things.

what i would give to see Stoner come back on the ducati and win the whole thing and put this to an end once and for all. Stoner won in spite of ducati not because of them. Rossi just cried for 2 years. He wont beat jorge anyway.

Rossi was shocked to find that the machine that Casey Stoner had taken to victory in three of the last six races of 2010 was a very long way from competitive, the results coming from Stoner’s mercurial talent rather than by virtue of the Desmosedici.

In essence, Rossi has run into the same problem that caused Stoner to leave the Italian factory: feedback was ignored and developments came at a glacial pace.

conclusion same bike different racers. rossi = overrated stoner > rossi. Now i know i will hear all sorts of garbage about this telling me how many times he has won back whenever. Fact is i have heard of rossi for years but really started watching moto gp the last 3 years.
Maybe he was great he does have many world championships. I suppose he is the highest paid if you add in everything but that DOESNT MEAN HE IS THE BEST. From what i have seen is he is a pampered complaining fading superstar

i suggest they put me on the desmosedici in indy and hire me afterwards for 12 mil $
i would even do it for 6...

rossi will have to get back to get used to the yamaha again, this will take its time as well. jorge will keep improving his bike and winning.

no matter what rossi does, he will lose. (i am saying that as a fan)

the duc will need an adaptable rider, who gives input within the means of the bike. not changing the bike all over. a young guy with talent, technical skill and adaptivity. okay, i'm out...

still lookiing forward to next season. in the meantime i keep enjoying WSBK ...

Heck yeah! next year should be interesting with the Panigale coming in! Hopefully Ducati will be back with a factory team.

they are kicking ass in WSTK, still in first place with La Marra!

If you guys don't remember Stoner won the championship cause of tires not cause of the bike. The bridgestones were lasting through the entire race when they switched to 800cc bikes, while the Michelin tires were falling off to early. Once everyone went to Bridgestone it was alot closer and Stoner was having a harder time. Watch the old races from when they switched to spec tires, Rossi would get through on the corners but the Ducati was so fast up top and through the gears that he would just motor by him, even on short straights. I remember Stoner complaining about Rossi being to aggressive in the corners and Rossi replied he will take it easy in the corners as soon as Stoner stops passing so fast on the straights. If Stoner was the best then how can you all explain Jorge, its not like Stoner is haveing alot of bad luck this season. As far as complaing goes, Stoner complains the most out of everybody. Look back at Laguna a few weeks ago when he didn't get poll, he complained about not getting a good run in cause of the CRT bikes. I guess they only put the CRT's out when he is doing a fast lap not anybody else, he looks like a little baby all the time. I am not a Jorge fan but out of all the riders he has figured out from Rossi's youth that people like a likeable guy no matter what not a complainer, this must be the reason he complains about nothing anymore and looks like he is always enjoying it.

Whatever Rossi's talents now are, he is still a big draw for a lot of people. Even those that are only partly follow MotoGP know of Rossi. I don't really care if he wins or not, but GP need him in the front group to keep the money coming in. I am sure that is a lot of what this is all about.

I don't necessarily think MotoGP needs Rossi up front as much as it needs a personality up front. JL has a bit of a personality but Danni, Stoner and others are sorely lacking.

I fully agree with you on that. I would rather see him go to wsbk though as it is more competetive and exciting to watch then MotoGp.

Motogp just need someone up front. Can you imagine after Stoner leave, you see Lorenzo and Pedrosa racing each other 18 times a year, with 4 second gap on rest of the field. That's not fun to watch.

Sad to see Spies leave, I thought he had potential to get in the mix.

Want to see good racing, standardize the electronics in GP, or just watch WSBK.

That is a fair comment. It is a personality they need, Rossi and his fan base are that though.

The loss of Simoncelli, other than being a sad loss of life, was also a loss of a new generation of character.
