I know this has been discussed but cant find info I am looking for.

Standard seat is like a board and I find it hard to keep from slamming into the tank during hard breaking. After looking over many opinions on different seats I decided on the comfort seat.

Pluses is the seat is one inch higher so my bad knee gets some relief. Seat is also a little softer.

Minuses is that the one inch in height make me feel more on top of the bike. I also feel less comfortable with the reach to the ground and that I have been getting tiered on shorter rides. Not sure what this is as I don't feel like I am carrying too much weight on my arms. I am also noticing an increase in wind on my shoulders.

I am thinking of taking the standard seat and changing shape to be a little higher in the front and only 1/2 inch in the center, thinking that maybe this will be a better compromise. I am also not fond of the sticky cover on the comfort seat. I feel that while if keeps me in place it doesn't allow for moving around as easily and left me with a sweaty crotch after 90 miles.

Has any one gone though the different seats and gone back to the standard?

The stock seat on all 2014 Panigales are a happy medium between the thin hard old stock seat and the super thick and cushy race or comfort seat. It does have a grippier cover than before, which most people I've heard like better. Keeps your nuts from being squished under braking.

I've considered tearing my stocker apart and seeing if I could do any good with it but sense the new stock seats came out I'm planning on getting one of those instead.

I put a gripper cover with suede sides over a standard seat, this was due to the slipping around on the standard seat, also at 5ft 5 I struggle with seat height being to high so could not use a race or comfort seat. No issues on long trips, on the track or spirited street riding.

I am 5'8" and 155 pounds. I find the stock seat on the '14 1199R to be both comfortable and it has great grip with the microfiber used on it. I have not ridden on a stock 1199 or 899 seat to be able to compare but I am completely satisfied with the R seat!

Why do so many short people buy Panigales?.....lol. I'm 6 foot and I'm not picking on short people but maybe we should have a separate thread with general set up to assist the vertically challenged.

can somebody post a pic of the new 1199 or 899 seat I willing to trade my comfort seat if the new stock one is a littler more gripper

Dani Pedrosa is 5'3 so if you're short or tall, there are options. Changing your rearsets and or seat height should do the trick. I'm 5'6 so I shaved down the stock seat and covered it in alcantara. The fact is, most of the European and Asian MotoGP riders are quite small. They average about 5'5" and 140 pounds.

6' and 230. Knee problem limits most rear sets.

I have material coming and am going to add 1/2 inch to stock seat and rais the front slightly. If all goes well I will send to Sargent for covering.

If anyone has a race seat for sale I will that.
