Hey TriColor3SF, I have heard that most Bay Area dealers will not really know what and when till July 2012. Let me put it this way for you - some dealers are way more aggressive about getting bikes than others.

That's just sad! Bay area is like the heart of Cali, don't understand why both hattar and Monroe are super slow! If I would've known I would've flown out some where and had a road trip back like stylers super adventure!

I'm not having second thoughts, but I have decided not to purchase the 2012. Nothing wrong with buying the 2012 if you just gotta have it, but I want to see how Ducati addresses the "first year gremlins". But make no mistake I will be getting a Panigale once it's matured a bit.

I've learned to accept the LOVE hate relationship I have with Ducati. At 50 I have had many bikes and none give me as much heartache as Ducati. Yet I keep coming back. It is the only bike with such a level of soul and passion.
Reality is the 1098 stalled and after many years Ducati never addressed it. I had to sell it. The Diavel stalls and everyone who owns one is coming up with the same old fixes. Now the Pani stalls. No real surprise. I have stopped looking for a true answer from Ducati. They know why but are unable or unwilling to address it. So the love hate goes on...

I don't have any stalling issues with my 1199??? There's something going on with the exhaust valve at 30mph, 3500rpm and 2nd gear, but it doesn't stall.

That sounds like a flat spot in the fuel mapping. My 07R1 had the same type of thing. Yamaha finally replaced the ignition box with one with better mapping.

I think its the exhaust valve closing rather than fuelling. Its bang on 30mph every time, I think it might be to do with how they managed to get an E mark for the loud standard exhaust.

I've got the flat spot too, but no smoking at all after about 80 miles or so. Spoke to my dealer and he said he heard something about some bikes needing a re-flash. They are going to investigate when I bring it in for my 600 mile service in a week or so.

I love my S ABS. I think the people worried about the bike haven't ridden it yet. It is like riding on rails. All the talk about no torque in the low rev range - yes, maybe in the 195 low setting. but in 196 hi, honestly, it has more torque than I can use from 4 to 6 grand. Nevermind over 6,000... The real test will be in the real world. People that ride and race them. This bike will see a lot of podiums.

You're killing me ! I can't wait anymore !

I've decided to do the same. Test road the bike, compared it to my 1098, ZX-10R, even an 848 evo w/full Termis. Going to wait for a few refinements...

Just went by my dealer to ask the never ending question.... "any news on delivery?" while there, one of the guys I've been talking to (who was going to get an S) said he decided on the RSV now. I say, "go for it!"
Heard the same kind of comments about my 1198s.... Not the fastest, other bikes handle better, blah, blah, blah.......
All I know is my friends, these V Twins have a soul, are way better looking than any other scoots made and make me smile ear to flip'n ear every time I ride one..... Counting the days to my delivery!
Stay thirsty my friends.....

I'm pretty happy so far. Haven't had engine stalling or dying or powerband flat spot problems. I suspect the Termi silencers and map that comes along with it helps avoid some of the problems. My tuner can re-map the Multistrada Mitsubishi ECU and will be working out re-mapping the Panigale Mitsubishi ECU later this month.

If you read the comments that Austin Racing has been making, I think some tuning can really help this bike perform.

Much of what I've read and the comments I've seen remind me of when the 916 was introduced. It was not the winner of the bike comparos and remapping the ECUs and some other tuning really helped them run much better. I've still got my '95 916 and if things work out like they have with my 916, I'll have a host of other Japanese and European bikes through the years, but the Panigale will remain. Unlike the other bikes I've owned which have come and gone over decades of riding it has the potential to become something very special over time.

Ride bikes long enough and there are always bikes which we could have bought, should have bought or kept, or would have bought or kept. To me the Panigale is one of those bikes which I didn't want to think I could have, would have or should have.

Ducatis are like hot chicks, great looks, high performance (haha), and high maintenence....If you want something totally reliable, drama free get a mini van. I'm not looking for a mini van! I want a full blown race bike that you can hear a mile down the road, I want the dirty looks from people that think my full system terms are just way too loud......all part of the Ducati experience imo. honestly I just want the fn bike to get here!!!! (first n line for the s model w/o abs) I put my deposit down in october...wtf

You should have had yours by now !

thats what im sayin......my dealer received tri, and s w/abs, still waiting for next shipment, ducati confirmed my bike to be delivered in may....thats it, no specific date

Its not surprising that these bike and the past ones need some tuning to get them to run right. They have to pass all the government hoops (emissions, noise etc) in order to be licenced and every county is different so its probably a huge nightmare for them. Just get the sucker in to a reputable shop and fix all that nonsense...screw the penguins and polar bears LOL

+1 That post just hit the nail on it's proverbial head!

Cheers
