Service Indicator

Has anyone figured out how to reset the service indicator? I have no intention of paying the dealer $250 for an oil change.

Oil Service indicator can only be reset at the dealer. Had mine done when I hit 1,000kms. The Dealer will use a Ducati Diagnostic System device that is plugged into your Panigale's tail. There is a plug there...you unlock your seatcowl, pullout the red tool kit and pull out the plug that is loosely hanging...then, Diagnostic tool is plugged in...

That is the only time the Oil Service light can be reset. You can change oil at home like what I did. I bought 4 spare oil filters for my Panigale. I replaced the oil and oilfilter myself at home when it hit around 985kms. Then just brought the bike in for the OIL SERVICE light resetting...at 1,000kms.

Yeah I knew that, my BMW manual basically says the same thing (bring it to the dealer), but it can be reset if you put the ignition in the Accessory position, hold the a button for 3 secs, blah blah blah. I was just hoping that someone had figured out a why to reset it without bringing it to the dealer. Did they charge you to reset it?

You'll be able to reset it when VDST releases it's diagnostic software for the bike.

It runs around $250 for single model software.

Do you have a link to a web site where this software can be purchased? I take it that the app runs in the Windows environment. Does it include a cable to run from the PC's USB port to the diagnostics port/plug on the bike?

Thanks.

I think it comes with the cable, but not positive. You can buy the softwared from desmotimes ( a great source for ducati specialty tools)

Desmo Times Product 911 - VDST Software I'm pretty sure the 1199 software is not out yet.

and here's the company website that makes it:

Diagnostic & Tuning Products :: TechnoResearch Inc

EFNA, did you get the package. I guess I need to call to see if they have one for the Panigale yet. Just too lazy......

I contacted DesmoTimes about a Pani kit. Here's their response;

"It took 3 years to develop one for the siemens ecu so i'd guess it will take awhile "

I haven't gotten anything yet. I want to but it maybe a while before anything is available. Oh well. However, the dealerships are using something to do this so that means this stuff exists. It's just a matter of getting hands on a copy. Anyone friends with a Ducati dealership mechanic?

I emailed technoresearch to see when they think they'll have something.

LT's right (desmotimes guy, he's a great resource for specialist tools and other goodies he's also got great manuals for the two and four valve ducs). I think the multistrada 1200 and the panigale are the first ducs with mitsubishi fuel injection. Since the multi came out in 2010 we might have something within a year.

HI All,
I heard back from Tecnoresearch RE: the diagnostic tool. It sounds like it's a way off.

Thank you for your interest in our products; at this time a deployment date for, the Ducati 1199 Panigale Centurion S diagnostic tool, has not been set.

The motorcycle is very new to the market and not only boast an engine ECU, but several ECUs for suspension, brakes among others.

Once we are close to bringing out, we will make the announcement for pre-orders.

Again, thank you for your interest in our products.

Best Regards/Saludos cordiales/Herzlichen Grûssen/Cordialement/Migliori riguardi/Saudações/Beste wense,

Gonna have to slip the ducati mechanic a few dead presidents for a copy of their software.

Just checked their site. Nothing for the Panigale yet.....uuuuggghhhh!!!!!

My Technoresearch/Tecnomotor Socio system does anything you could ever want to a Pani short of reprogramming fuel curves. It's a shop level system, (for my shop....Desert Desmo LLC) though, and a bit pricey for the individual user. I'm told the new Centurion system (replacement for VDST) will work for a single bike, though! I get regular advertising messages from them and they say it's ready to ship.

Edit: i visited their website and as Zvez said, nothing shows for Panigale. If you're interested you might give them a call, as sometimes they're a bit slow updating their website.

Just got off the phone with Technoresearch. They have all of the items ready except the service indicator and DTC. They will have the service indicators wrapped up in a couple of weeks and hope that they will have the DTC complete during the same release.
I have purchased the unit and will be able to download the update(s) once complete. It can currently monitor the injectors, voltages, current, temperatures, RPM, etc..... Price is $241.11 shipped to Texas. Regina was awesome to work with as well as their technical support. Looking forward to helping out my fellow Austin Panigale Owners as needed.
