Typically whenever I get a new bike or car I immediately get a ticket. I've been very careful on the 1199 partially because I'm aware of my bad luck and also I have far greater respect for the bike (err, fear) than anything I've ever ridden/driven. So yesterday I head up twin peaks and stretch the Panigale's legs a little. I wasn't doing anything stupid, but I'm sure every throttle input echoed for a half mile around me (and for anyone who knows the road, it's short, bumpy as all hell and even on the Panigale you can't give it full throttle for more than a moment or two).
So I'm up at the top for perhaps five or so minutes and a patrol car slowly drives by, eyeing both me and my bike. Officer steps out of the car and walks directly over to me. I'm thinking, F$%K!! He asks if the bike is mine, I reply that it is, but instead of saying, "License and registration" or "Hands behind your back" he smiles and starts asking me how I like the bike. Turns out he's also a Ducati owner (1100 Monster) and just stopped to check out the Panigale. I even gave him my key and let him start 'er up--he absolutely loved the sound and the looks on the faces of all the tourists as he revved the bike was priceless.
Coolest cop ever!
