We have a trackday regular who is paraplegic from the torso down. He made himself velcro system to strap himself onto his R6 and strap his feet onto the footpegs. Gearshifts are with buttons on the left handlebar, of course, and who cares about rearbrake (although he once went out withh his right foot unstrapped and ended up dragging the rear brake to pit to get it fixed by his son-in-law).
His wife is inspirational, standing by him on the regular trackdays, with a book in hand and a small chair handy.
Recently he crashed. The good thing is he felt no pain (well, not much area left to feel). Bike was wrecked, but a short facebook post later by his friend got many people chipping in for repairs or coming up with spares (including a good fuel tank!). Restored my faith in humanity, somewhat.
Luckily it was fixed in less than a month, in time for his clubmans race 3 weeks ago. He ended up #2.
Inspirational! I felt lucky to have known and rode in some sessions with him!
Just like these guys here too!
