In what ways is the Desmo a POS ? Nothing can beat the experience of riding a Desmosedici around a track .... the lap times .

I think it is his. He had an S and an R previously. The last time I was at the track, there were 2 SL's both with colored wheels, not sure if he has two.
Like double0 said, gotta pay to play :)

That's my boy. He has 2. He and I have swapped a few bikes to each other - HP4 comp, RSV4 factory, 1199R, etc. He feels the SL is the best bike ever by a longshot...I value his opinion, he can ride.

The Dragon Lady's Termis have been gutted if you guys want to hear how they sound? :D

Update to my original post, I rode the SL at the track again yesterday and this time with the Race exhaust and map installed. It's like a night-and-day difference, it has SO much more torque through the midrange now, and pulls even harder up top. Rather than having to stay in 2nd gear above 7000 rpm through the chicanes I could leave it in 3rd and torque it out instead, which was much smoother and easy to control. At the end of the front straight at this track (MAM) which is about 1/3 mile long, I'm going about 155mph on my 899 in 6th gear. On the SL I was going 160mph............. in 5th gear.............. at somewhere around 3/4 throttle. All I said when I came back in off the track was "That's stupid." :)

Is the 1199 really faster on the track than a 'dici?

Not just faster, WAY faster, I've ridden both on the same track. The Desmo still is "cooler" to ride just becasue of the sound, but the SL would blow it into the weeds if you raced them against each other.

potential electronics upgrade?

Are the electronics based on the same mitsubishi platform or is it something altogether different? What additional sensors does the SL have that the R does not (i.e. how does the wheelie control work)?
