Question

I get Wheelie control

Engine control

traction control

what i dont get is SLIDE CONTROL

What does it do? What is the diference between SLICE CONTROL 1 or SLIDE CONTROL 2 ?

The setting is designed to improve the function (intervention) of DTC and is focused on corner exit.

1 just intervenes less than 2. I would ride in 2 and if I were getting a lot of indication that DTC/DSC was being activated on corner exit consider going to 1.

Page 79 in my owners manual basically explains the same as the above post.

It’s extra traction control on corner exits

I'm pretty sure that slide control affects rear wheel braking on corner entry! I thought, as you enter the corner, apply the rear brake, and the DSC allows a degree of slide, to aid turning?

I have been trying to use Slic control 1 on the golf course but so far it's not done me any good.

No, this conflicts with what the manual says. DSC has nothing to do with the rear brake.

Slide control works on both entry and exit.

It isn't so much "extra traction control" as it is changing the parameters of traction control. Normally, traction control will attempt to prevent a slide. Slide control adjusts the parameters to allow a degree of pivot, or kicking out the rear. Instead of stopping wheelspin right away, it sets the TC to talk with the IMU and allow a few degrees of pivot. Slide 1/2 are essentially levels to it, 2 allowing the rear to kick out further than 1.

It also talks with ABS, such as your example. Jam the rear brake on entry with slide control on and it will tell the ABS to allow the rear to kick out to a certain extent. What I am not sure about is how it interacts with ABS 1 (no rear ABS), if it intervenes still or doesn't come into play at all.

It is basically designed to solve the problem of guys wanting TC but also wanting to use controlled sliding to steer the bike on exit. Many TC systems intervene too much, so you either have to keep it on and sacrifice sliding or turn it off/down significantly and be able to slide, but lose the safety net of more aggressive TC. Slide control allows you to have your cake and eat it too.

That’s what I thought until I read the description in the owners manual

Anyone on here skilled enough to tell us the real world effect and difference in bike handling between off, 1 and 2?

I call it cheating! I like it though. I have a 2020 V4S and don't think I have exercised the full capability of the DSC. I will next year!

I could have sworn when the V4 was announced, they talked about DSC and how it also works under rear braking. But perhaps I am mistaken in that.

You are correct. There were those mentions on media. Or at least on some reviews. Although I slightly also remember on one review it being mentioned as a corner exit assist.

Anyway never really noticed rear slide on corner exit, only too much yellow light with a worn out tire. Neither tried the rear brake thing.

One of the ABS modes, level 2, allows you to slide the rear wheel by using the brake. Level 1 removes the ABS from the rear all together. Level 3 is full ABS front and rear.
