Im wondering how streetable the bike will be. I bet it will sell like hotcakes though. Im having a hard time understanding its spot in the kawa line up though. Its not a zx14, but its not a zx10 either. From a marketing standpoint it seems like its going to cannibalize competition from both as a lot of people who buy both the zx10 and zx14 care a lot about HP numbers but I digress
Its also looks like a pig
Expensive lipstick! Is the carbon on the R model lipstick???
I would bet this bike doesnt make anymore than 250 crank horsepower hence why they say they don't want any numbers said. I will truly be amazed if this bike makes 300 at the crank and about 250-260 at the wheel. VERY doubtful though. Time will tell.
I seem to remember a number of around 327Hp claimed... ?? I did see that the bike does 203mph and just simply ran outta room.... top speed should/could be around 240mph... Of all the criticism of it I don't think power is one of them....
It seems to me the H2 is simply an engineering exercise and maybe a sign that the next gen 14R (and other bikes) will be supercharged.
That's what I was thinking. How many dudes put SC's on their Busas and ZX14's already.
Right. Also the H2 is a $25k bike and since it's low volume I doubt there's any discounts. Aftermarket support?
The customers that want huge HP can buy a 14R and would have $10k left for mods. You can do a lot to a 14R with 10K (ohlins, motor work, lighten it, turbo, etc.,). So I really don't think the H2 will "steal" customers away, but people that want an amazing riding experience should consider the H2.
I don't think Kawasaki is worried about the H2 taking sales from the 10R & 14R. The H2 is a low volume bike and was only sent to dealers with a customer who placed an order and put down a $2k deposit. It seems to me the H2 is simply an engineering exercise and maybe a sign that the next gen 14R (and other bikes) will be supercharged. I really like the freedom the design team had with the H2 bikes, they've created a riding experience unlike anything else on the market.
Most of the H2's will sit in a garage or only go on the drag strip though. I doubt we will see any on the road over here. I bet it would be hell riding that thru lights lol
I see your point. I have no idea where they are going with this bike. No doubt it's phenomenal but if it is an engineers dream come to reality, surely kawa figured they could make money somehow. Although I wish they would more often, rarely does a motor company create a new platform purely for the enthusiast without tinking it would be profitable. Somebody has to pay for engineering design production and advertising. I hope it does well though. It will raise the bar yet again. Pretty soon we will see 500 hp super bikes lol
If the H2 is R&D for future models, Kawasaki should eventually see a return on their investment. Look at MotoGP. Honda, Yamaha, and Ducati are pouring millions into their GP machines and teams. I highly doubt manufacturers in Moto GP are turning a profit from the racing. They're looking to get a return on their investment from the R&D that they will use on their future street bikes (and from the marketing).
