Speciale Leaking Rizoma Fuel Cap

Guys I have the Rizoma fuel cap installed on my Speciale and I keep smelling fuel. I stopped for a bit to take a brake and found there was gas around the outside edges of the fuel cap. When I got home I took it apart and the o ring seemed almost too large and didn't sit in the groove very well so I thought the tec that installed it messed up. I order all new o rings and just went for a ride and the dame thing is still happening. Is anyone seeing this issue? I'm thinking of going back to the stock cap or adding an AME so it uses the stock gaskets and not just that small o ring as a seal. Anyone have any thoughts?

yeah the dealer is so busy and I hate dropping off my bike so I installed new O-rings and she still leaks. I just ordered the AEM cap that will use the stock gasket because I hate having to use the keys.... I'm hoping it works!

Understood. You could always go back to stock and have it remedied by the dealer before the warranty expires.

True. If the AEM and stock gasket solve the issue I'll be happy. It suck because really like the Rizoma cap other than the plastic little key you need to open it that part sucks.

I have that same cap and I haven't had any issues with it. Sorry bro.

How much fuel do you put in the tank? I have it about one or two inches to the neck? I rode home tonight and I had a brief smell of gas but rode for a while and nothing. Almost wondering if I fill it with too much fuel?

I fill it to about 3 or so inches below the neck.
I rarely fill the bike up since I mostly ride in town.

So strange. Well I’ll know soon enough when I put the AEM on when it comes in. Hopefully today. On the flip side man this .... is a beast... Had a great ride going home after work. It’s gonna be hard to keep my license lol

Haha I know what you mean. This bike is basically too much for the street. You can barely get up into the rev range without exceeding the speed limit:rolleyes:

Yeah for sure. I actually find myself riding my 1290 Super Duke mostly because its way more comfortable and if you're on the gas with all the torque it's a blast even going 30 to 80 whereas the Speciale doesn't get fun till you at 9 grand! LOL I just added some BST Rapid Tec rims and wave rotors on the Duke and it lightened her up 17 pounds and mad now she feels like a dirt bike with a big block Chevy in her!

Just purchased a V4S and fitted the Rizoma fuel cap and now noticing a strong smell of fuel. Just trying to find out if those who have mentioned it here have solved their problem and how.

I have the cap and have not had an issue. When street riding I fill the bike up but never with fuel into the filler neck. You might be over filling seems like an easy test is fill a little less. I also don’t carry the plastic key I turn the cap with my thumb and use the key to lift.

Crap! I just installed this on my bike about a week ago. It’s sitting now for the winter, I hope this won’t be a issue come spring. It wasn’t a cheap item.

I notice the smell after I installed the exhaust, which I took out the charcoal canister out.
