Hey everyone new 1199s owner here and am a little confused on the break-in. Now i am going to (hopefully) stay true to the 6k rpm and under for the first 600 miles and 7k for the next 900 miles and so on but i was curious as to how you do so. I have about 60 miles on the bike so far which are all going through the gears with anywhere from 1/2- WOT bursts up to 6k rpms then repeat. But what my question is should i be breaking it in easy as in under 1/2 throttle bursts?

I apologize in advance if this is a ridiculous over thought question but i had to ask.

Thanks,
-Ryan

Hey Ryan, welcome to the forum.

There is always lots of discussion on breaking in / running in the bike. Some swear by going by the book, others rag it hard from the outset and some use a dyno.

Rather than repeat a lot of it in a new thread do a search for breaking or running in and you should find some views. From there you can decide how you want to go forward.

I use WOT, while still keeping to a "sensible" rev ceiling, considering the breakin recommendations.

Now, "sensible" has to be your interpretation, based on your previous experience and how you feel the machine should be used and what it should withstand.
