The Kid got quite an education today from the Master. with Lorenzo not even in the same zip code. The 46 just can't ever be counted out, to have the decades of race craft to draw on, the physical ability to use it, and a bike up to the task is a lethal combination, hurray for the "old" guys.

I was really impressed with how much Rossi had in reserve for the last couple of laps. He really ignited the afterburners at the end.

I don't blame Marc for attempting a pass in the chicane, but the way he suggested that Rossi was in the wrong for defending is just ridiculous. Rossi did nothing wrong, but the last rider on the grid to call foul on something should be Marc.

I love the fact that mark419 keeps saying Rossi is done and can't hang with mm.

Yeah, what an ......

Coming in last turn wayyyy too hot and still thinking he was right - umm yeah...

Rossi, when he is on his game both physically and mentally is just the best. Marquez might be a tad faster overall these days, but Rossi is smarter and has decades of race craft in his memory banks, to draw on. When Rossi decides he's going to win, he's a freaking assassin.. Cold, calculating and the ultimate motorcycle racer.

Hats of to Rossi; I think he's going to win the MotoGP championship this year. I didn't think he had enough fire left in his belly, wasn't hungry enough, but it looks like I counted him out too soon.

P.S. Marquez has to stop being a whiny little ......

I understand how many loyal fans Vale has, but he cut the corner because he had lost the line after MM touched him. I have watched it 10 times, Vale CHOSE TO CUT IT. Either MM should have won, or MM should have lost after been penalized for touching Vale, but what you cannot do is ignoring the rules.

I'm flabbergasted that mm thought he got screwed and won the race . his interview was disturbing .
watching the replay I just realized that mm actually went off the track too he could have never made that corner ooc .

Valentino has been the undoing of some .... hot racers over the years, and he's still here and getting it done. He has been at the top of the game for 20 years and has seen every scenario play out countless times. As long as he stays healthy my money is Vale to win the 2015 championship.

I don't agree at all. Rossi had no where to go. Mm always rides aggressive and has been know to take people out. Once again his desperation attempt to pass, he wasn't even past Rossis front wheel. ......... move I think.

But in surprised the officials dont penalize Rossi for cutting that corner. Even tho he had no where to go, I would still expect them to say something about it.

Rossi should have been penalized when he bypassed that bend, accident or not.

If anyone should have been penalized it's Marc. Once again he used his bike as a battering ram.

MotoGP Race Director Mike Webb has explained exactly why the last lap Assen clash between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez was deemed a racing incident.

The pair were battling for victory when reigning champion Marquez attempted to pass current title leader Rossi into the final chicane. Contact was made at the first apex of the right-left-right sequence, resulting in Rossi straight-lining the rest of the corner before taking the chequered flag 1.2s ahead of Marquez.

Afterwards, the riders clearly held very different opinions about the incident.

Rossi said: "I saw Marc's bike, but it was too late. We touched and I had to cut [the corner]". Marquez said: "I studied perfectly the last chicane, how to put the bike in the correct place, but OK I didn't expect he would cut! In the end, what I feel is that we won the race."

Asked who would have won without the contact. Rossi commented “I remember I was in front”, Marquez responding “I remember I was on the inside!”

In terms of Race Direction, the decisive factor seems to have been that Rossi was in front when they made contact.

“We've obviously reviewed the incident from all the camera angles we have. The decision is racing incident. No advantage was gained,” Webb told Crash.net. “The basis of that decision is primarily the helicopter shot that shows at every stage Valentino was ahead.

“So Valentino had the right to the line. He was ahead. He was not passed. As they reached the apex of the right-hand turn Marc touched Valentino, which made [Valentino] go wide. So that's a racing incident. It's unavoidable.

“The two balancing things are that it was a hard pass with contact and you are not allowed to push another rider off the line. But the end result was that they entered and exited that series of corners in the same position. No advantage gained. End of story.”

What amazed me is how Vale got through the gravel and still won the race. He kept the front end up like a dirt bike. Awesome!

Marquez's maneuver

MM made an inside move that made it impossible for himself, or VR, to make the corner. Both were physically endangered. Thank goodness neither was hurt. VR winning is a good outcome. I would not argue against further penalties for MM, because racing at this level is a contact sport, and those that do it, even at lower levels, are bolder men than I.

Bull!

We need to see it again. PA?!?!?!

Well time for me to go out and celebrate with another ride wearing my 46 jacket.

And you Mr BBB need to carefully read Eleven99's post and the quotes from race direction.

I think they know a little bit more about it than you do.

I called it before the race "Rossi to win" Just glad he did and in great style too. He did well to keep it up in the gravel as someone else has said.
