You received an invite for purchase?

An invite to show interest in purchasing. They do state they expect more than 520 interest responses. So they will probably go to the "number" system like they did for the Race of Champions bikes.
Basically, Ducati ranks customers on number scale. I don't know how they come up with the ranking, but I bet it has to do with buying a certain number of bikes, spending a certain amount and attending events. @topolino might have more info on that.

It's on an allocation basis using their own Matrix. The deeper your historical pockets have been with Ducati, the higher up the list I guess you will be (see highlighted section in quote below). You also get to choose your production number (laser engraving) for the top yoke. You can choose three numbers in order of preference.

This is what the blurb says

"The allocation of the motorcycles and the possibility of choosing the serial number will be at the sole discretion of Ducati, taking into account objective criteria including but not limited to the level of loyalty shown (always and recently) by the requesting party vis-à-vis Ducati. On 14 December the collection of applications for special clients will close. From 16 December 2022 you will be informed whether you have been allocated the bikes you are interested in. Once you have received confirmation from Ducati, by 31 December 2022 you must finalise the purchase agreement with your official Ducati dealer and make the advance payment (in the amount that will be communicated to you in advance by your dealer) required to place the order. If the advance is not paid within the aforementioned deadline, you will lose the allocation of the motorcycle, which will thus be allocated to another person. The bikes purchased may not be resold for six months from the date of delivery."

Yeah, I didn't read that deply into it, but it kind of confirms what I posted up there.

While they are nice, as soon as I saw 63K I closed the form. Special numbered editions don't hold much(any) weight in my purchase decisions.

Let's not forget the priceless signature now.

It's actually kinda bad because it is "priceless". Meaning if you track the bike and wreck it and damange the signature, you can't replace the signature. So your "investment" is gone. So it'll be a garage queen.

Of course, as others have mentioned it's all moot since special editions historically don't hold their value.

15,000 lattes @ 2 x lattes per day = 20 years of milky coffees

So young poor aspiring Ducati special owners, take a loan and stop drinking latte's for 20 ish years (and having smashed avocado on toast) and you too can have a valuable (cough cough) Ducati

These bikes’ monetary worth can be debated, but this year with Pecco and Alvaro is the best year for Ducati in a long time, 2006 for MotoGP and 2011 for WSBK, so there’s nothing “wrong” for Ducati to make a few bucks on their accomplishments and a few people will get a great bike with great intangible value.

2007 Was Stoners Ducati championship.... Nicky Hayden won in 06 didn't he?

Ducati make these because people will buy them, there's one guy in my town that has one of every panigale made, god knows why but he does, they will be the customers who end up with these.....

I'm more than happy with my SP, I had a 1098R Bayliss and loved the bike, hated the gaudy replica bodywork on it though, and the price? yeah, no thanks!

Yeah, it was indeed 2007 for Stoner. 2006 was Nicky on the Honda. I just wasn’t thinking straight… lol

Don't bring smashed avo on sourdough into this.

Would've been nice for Ducati to celebrate the victories with just the paint job on the base and S models, at no premium, or just the £1k to cover the paint, so it's customers could enjoy the bikes and victories too.
But, as Ducati is so used to milking us, it's not unexpected. And not the good milking, that some special ladies offer naughty young men.

MV have a 37 championship design, maybe a clever forum member could do something similar for the Ducati tank?

Do they really believe these things are that exclusive......and will be that much in demand?
