Hi all!

To be able to light up my Diavel 2012 without keys nearby I need to press the button very very hard.
Its tricky to get the finger in there with the needed pressure.

Is this my bike or does yours also require very very very hard pressing?

Will ask the dealer next service in march, but i just wanted to ask here to.

For you with your bike in winter storage this is an excellent excuse to visit the garage ;)

Cheers

i'm guessing you mean the power on/off button in front of the lower display?

All that button has under it is a plastic rod that pushes on a rubber button that is in a housing that looks like an ignition assembly but with a button instead of a lock mechanism.

If you have to push really hard the top plastic buttons rod is probably misaligned and it's not pressing on the centre of the rubber button below, you can shim the bottom assembly up a little by putting washers under it, did the job on mine.

Also , I've found that button has a delay to it, if I push it once and stand back it turns on after about 5 seconds, so don't keep pushing till something happens, press once and release.

oh really?
didn't know that, i'll have to try it, thanks

Din't know that too, always lost 5 seconds with my finger being smashed by that pannel. The space for the finger is really small... or my finger is really big, whatever

Just tested. No needs to keep it pressed, there is a delay, as johnno said, of 5 seconds. Just a lil press and a small waiting and it's turn on the pannel.

Thanks johnno, it's a finger saver tip!!!

My experience, after losing my radio key for the second time (ouch) and having only my pin code to start; Reach under the bar and push the button once. Wait like 10 seconds and the instrumentation will light up.... Sounds crazy, but try it. Your good from there if you have your pin.
