Still looks good to me

I absolutely love the looks of the 1198 over the Panigale. For me, it's the trellis frame and the projector headlights... Yeah, she's a fat looking girl compared to the 1199... but I still have a thing for the 1198.

As for riding, they are 2 different bikes. My buddy has the 1198, and we swap rides every once in a while. My bike is more comfortable, but it's not a bad feel on the 1198 either.

If I could have a stable of bikes... I'd have both in that stable!

Fat girls need love too...they just gotta PAY! Giggity!

The 1098R I rode will always stick in my mind as one of the most brutal and raw bikes ever.

I do miss the beast mentality of my 1098S and the sound of the Termis big time.
She did require more effort to do what I wanted her to do though.

Hence the new girlfriend :D

here is a pic:

I agree about the 1098/848/1198 feeling like a fat girl compared to the Pani.

The 1199 feels like a 600 to me and the one thing that puts a smile on my face are how sweet the Termi's sound and that infamous dry clutch. When I took te 1199 out for a demo, it caught me off guard how "quiet" it got when I pulled in the clutch. I'm hoping to add a Pani next to my 1098 soon.

For me the honor of the most brutal and raw bike ever (that I have owned) goes 100% to the 998S Bayliss (really a 996R engine). The 998 without a doubt is the most gnarly bikes out of all the Ducatis I ride. No wonder the 9XX won some many cups and put Ducati firmly on the map.

The Pani has a wet clutch, not a dry one... :p

There is always this sexiness. . Gulf livery 1098r... its an older pic, but it still.checks out

Other than the difficult handling of the 1098, I liked the bike a lot. I think Dan Kyle came out with a triple tree that changed the rake a few degrees. Does anyone know if the improvement was dramatic or know any other fixes for the difficult handling?

There are quite a few shops that make triples for the 1098 that reduce the offset.
Many of them reduce the offset to 30mm, but I went with a DucShop triple that reduces the offset to 28mm.
I rarely use exclamation marks, OMG!!!
It makes the bike handle SO much better, turn in quicker, & doesn't run wide exiting the corners under power.
I highly recommend it. It'll be a whole new bike ;)

What he didn't tell you is that he likes it so much now, that he still can't warm up to his 1199R :D

I miss drooling over my 1098S Tricolore. Sexy lines but the ride quality & ergos were not even in the same class as the Panigale R.

This is the first Ducati I fell in love with....I never owned a 1098 but this began my dream to own one and that's why I chose the Tricolore.

Thanks! It was the running wide made me nuts.
Anyone know if the "R" came with the same triple as the "S"??

just because I can.. it was 60 the other day( now its 31 :( ) but I took the wifes bike out the get gas and warm it up and whatnot before winterizing..

I felt EXACTLY the same way when I saw it. So much so that I financially over-extended myself at the time to buy it. In hindsight it was worth every penny and I made it all back on the sale. What it taught me was that there are even sexier things to drool over, like this:

Just waiting for max depreciation to hit on the 2014/2015 Perfies and it's mine! Not over-reaching this time. Paying cash in a year or two to make the dream come true!

Rode one of Marks friends 1198's. It definitely had a different low-end grunt but I didn't like it. Could've cared less for it...
