Since the exhaust folks (AR/Akra) aren't geting product out to for a while, I was looking more seriously at the Marchesini. 2 questions:

  • Is $3185 the best price out there
  • What could I sell my OEM base wheels for (red sticker striped/1300 mi)

Trauma, if that is an online price I would call them directly before placing the order and negotiate with them. You usually can get an extra 5 to 15 percent off. This usually works if you find someone who has it in stock and not have to order it. The reason why is they do not make money as long as it is in stock and there is a pretty large profit margine for aftermarket parts so there is wiggle room. That is what I did for my BST CF wheels I managed to get 20 percent off and tax free online. I'm not sure what's the going price is for the OEM wheels I havent tried to sell them but Jarel is selling his OEM parts and I'm sure he has a really good idea what they are selling for.

Good luck

Guys, theres a difference between FORGED MAGNESIUMS and FORGED ALUMINUM.

The 1199 "S" and "R" are equipped with Marchesini FORGED ALUMINUM wheels and NOT FORGED 'MAGNESIUMS" The Base Model Panigale uses "CAST ALUMINUM WHEELS made by ENKEI Japan, while "S" and "R" are made by Brembo/Marchesini in Italy.

Forged magnesiums are lighter than Forged Aluminum wheels but are more prone to corrossion than Forged Aluminum. Thats why Ducati chose to go for the Forged Aluminum wheels than the Magnesium counterparts due to corrosion.

Most buyers of Forged "Magnesium" wheels are racers. For the road...go for the Forged Aluminum wheels.
