Stoner vs F1 vs Supercar

Best of the nutters though. Not best of the motorcycle racers. Nobody that's sane is going to do that. Nothing wrong with that, but calling Moto GP racers or motocross racers wusses really doesn't mean much, from a nutter. :D

For example: If a USPSA pistol competition ended with a stage of russian roulet, none of the best shooters are going to show up for that event. I could actually win then, If I was nuts enough.

Good video. The downforce on the F1 cars are amazing, keeping the cars glued to the track.

Yeah they kinda cheated Stoner by not giving him a proper bike. Two sponsored race cars vs a production bike...

It's just a demo thing that was done for a mess so not in any way an actual comparison of anything!
An f1 car would lap a gp bike about every 4-5 laps on any circuit they both use

Great observation captain obvious.

1 WSB champion, that I believe still holds race wins title did compete in The IOM TT beating overweight plumbers at their own game, guess who Carl Foggarty and of course the legendary Mike Hailwood
Maybe some experts out there could look up fastest MotoGP lap time v F1 on that track just for a reference, I think they used a stock bike just not to embarrass Ausie V8 supercars

Thanks I forgot about that web & forum, pretty interesting technical debate there, at Austin TX F1 was around 30 sec less / lap but straight line speed was 212 for the MotoGP v 198 F1, techs seem to think a bike @ 60 deg lean angle could achieve 1.8 - 2 G subject to many variables a bike has, that amazed me because as a rider I don't think we feel any G's like in a car, not that I can reach 60deg without falling off.

"Silverstone:
MotoGP - 20 laps @ 41:16.429 ---> AVG per lap = 123.8 secs
F1 - 52 laps @ 1:25:11:288 ---> AVG per lap = 98.2 secs

But it would be neat to see more MotoGP vs V8 supercars, NASCAR, SCCA etc.etc.

Austin:
Formula1 - 1:39.3 Top speed on back stretch 198 mph/320 kmh
MotoGP - Marc qualified at 2:03.2 @ 212 mph, and if I remember correctly race laps were getting down to 2:04.
Grand Am - Daytona Prototypes were doing laps @ 2:00.
V8 Supercars didn't run the full track.
If I remember from the race the 458 italia class last November were lapping in the 2:15ish range."

Copy and pasted from that link. 12 seconds faster than race prepped Ferrari 458's is pretty good.

Why were people saying the F1 car looked slow off the line then when he was taking the piss or suggesting that the GP bike would make a difference? Oh that's right, because you're a gimp!

Interesting variation in lap times on a different circuit, but 1 that's a fav' with both F1 & MotoGP Brno lap record times, well at least it's not a 30 sec difference.

This is a good one to include shifter karts. I used to live an hour and half from Virginia International Raceway, where AMA and Sportscars race, and a major US car magazine does annual time trials with new street cars to measure absolute performance. A beautiful track with many configurations.

I did every track day there for several years and would constantly see the Porsche/Ferrari/whatever car clubs on the other track configuration while we were on the other side with bikes. It was fun to have lunch at their restaurant and ask the fancy rich guys their laps times with GT3s and 430 Scuderias. I'd feign amazement while scoffing inside at my 15+ second lap time advantage on the same track configuration. That is until one day a major karting organization was there and at lunch I learned that they were 15+ seconds faster than my bike! It's even more impressive when you consider that my Vmax on the front straight was around 160 mph and because of gearing they were only going about 125 mph. All that time made up in the braking zones and mid-corner is pretty mind-blowing.
