Street tire pressure

Yah, the stock pressures performed very badly for me - poor feedback and grip, but little signs of wear.

I'm currently running 34F 33R, as per Mr Bowdy's recommendation and its much better!

Isn't the front supposed to be lower than rear? I never mess with my tire pressure so I am not sure what to even start with or what to look for. I've been able to get all my chicken strip off the rear with stock pressure with little TC feedback. But I understand you will gain even more grip by playing with pressure. Thanks for the feedback!

fyi the owners manual tire pressure recommended are different from the sticker on the bike.

pg 231 says frt 30.46 rear 31.9

sticker on headstock says frt 33.4 rear 37.8

I run 31/32 hot...the rear heats up more than the front. So usually that equates to about 30/29 if we're talking cold pressures.

Well I am in Michigan and temps cold that I ride in are 40 degrees, hot temps are upwards near 90+ degrees. Lot of mixed numbers here. Is there any online chart showing tire pressure vs temp for these tires? I appreciate the feedback! Just trying to narrow it down based upon where I live. Again, this is street tire pressure not track.

well, they do want to sell tires and with pressures that low on the streets you'll get even less longevity than the regular pressure. It seems odd they'd recommend a lower pressure than the track pressures recommended for the Supercorsa DOT tires.

According to my Pirelli rep thats about right. That's approx. where mine are set. Sometimes even a little lower if the streets are cold.

eeeehhh...... What do those Pirelli reps know anyway:)

There are so many variables that it would be a guess as to why they would recommend the different pressures. The main thing that comes to my mind is the individual experience with the situation. This could be a recommendation based on a particular area and weather condition.

I honestly think that it is always a balance between traction and longevity. I can tell you this from experience though. I would buy new tires every time I rode if that would guarantee that I would not end up on the ground.

This of course is unrealistic but basically an extreme way of saying that my opinion is tires are designed to wear out. They need to shed rubber so to speak, to continue to give the traction and performance I want. I don't mind buying tires more often for the traction level.

It takes big money to play the big game:D

I always go a little less vs more, pressure for better traction
I could care less on long tire life as long as they stick
Higher pressures will only add maybe a few hundred miles of life at best
and I'd rather have more secure footprint vs saving a few $
