(I just realized that I should have posted this in Streetfigher forum... But would appreciate any opinion here.)

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum. Used to ride sports bikes but just switched to Streetfigther V4S. It's still within break-in period and I'm thinking of adding some crash protections just in case.

Do you guys know what kind of protection is needed? I would like to only protect parts that will get hit during a (minor) crash. There are too many products that protects parts that will never get hit, or parts that are cheap.

Frame sliders? spindle bobbins? clutch/alternator covers?

It will be great if you are nice enough to share some actual after-crash pictures.

Thanks!

Whats going on. There are few different frame sliders you can choose from. The ones (or rather the one for your bike and the 2 or 3 for Panigales) that bolt to your bike in 4 places on the left side and bolt to 6 places on the right side. The advantage of this is that if in the event you go down. The stress of the force is distributed throughout all the mounting points. This will prevent any damage caused by a frame slider bolt tearing away from the part its bolted to. As well as not ripping off a cover that would expose a major part on the bike which could get damaged. Here is a link to Bellissimotos site. The link shows the Aella frame sliders. They are the most expensive but you can see why. And the link shows the CNC Racing and 2 Ducabike frame sliders. The CNC Racing and Ducabike frame sliders bolt onto one point. Im not a fan of a single mounting point. You read why Im not a fan above. Frame Protection I have the CNC Racing version on my 1299. They are similar to how these Aella look. But my right side only has 4 mounting points. CNC Racing makes frame sliders for the V4 and other Ducatis that mount in multiple areas. However Im not sure why they havent come out with anything for the Street Fighter that looks like the Aella ones or the ones they have for the Panigales. When I crashed, if it wasnt for my CNC Racing frame sliders my motor would have been done. Here is a link to what the CNC Racing frame sliders look like for a 1299. The link shows the Aella for the 1299 as well Frame Protection

As for axle protectors. CNC Racing, Gilles Tooling and others make good front and rear axle protectors. I had the CNC Racing and Gilles Tooling on my Ducati and both BMWs. But what I hated about them and every other company that makes protectors is that you have to screw them on to tighten them and then loosen the screws to get them off. T-Rex-Racing makes magnetic axle protectors. You just slide one side in and then slide the other side in. The front ones connect at their tips with a really strong magnet. And the rear slide in from the left and right side and connect. There is no way they are coming out easily. A month before my crash ( I crashed 9-11-2020) I installed a set of Ohlins FGRT front forks and an Ilmberger carbon front fender. If not for the T-Rex-Racing axle protectors I would have either scratched up my forks and fender or maybe even bent them. The T-Rex-Racing axle protectors are a bit chunkier than others. But they arent ugly. They flow with the bike. On the T-Rex-Racing website they dont list these magnetic frame sliders fitting the V4 or the SFV4. They only show them fitting 1299 and older Panigales. But they do fit because the V4 and SFV4 wheels will fit 1299 and 1199's. It gives you a choice for a long or short one for the front. The short one is the one needed. Ive sold a bunch of them to V4 guys on the forum. Here is a youtube video. The video shows a BMW, but you will get the point. The magnets are high strength neodymium magnets. These arent expensive. If Im not mistaken they retail for $70 for the rear and $59 or $65 for the front. I sell them for dealer cost because they are inexpensive because of shipping costs.

For your oil and water radiators I would recommend the cox racing protectors. Others may say Evotech or R&G. I like the Cox Racing because they are easy to mount and you can order them in a few different colors. I have them on my bikes and try to sell them over the other ones. Here is a link. These are for the V4 but I think they would fit the SFV4. I could always find out Ducati v4 Panigale 1299 899

Here is a link to motor covers Engine Protection I personally have the 2 piece Ducabike clear clutch cover with the extra Ducabike slider on it. When I crashed I had the one piece ducabike clear clutch cover. But it did the job and the bottom was ground down. Some guys dont like clear clutch covers because they say they leak. Ive never had an issue. And guys who bought them from me never had issues. I think some leak because either the gasket wasnt installed properly or the cover was removed to many times and the gasket wore away. Here is a pic of my bike after the accident. You can see the frame slider protected the motor and the axle slider protected my front. Yes the fairings got scratched but the frame sliders did their job protecting my motor and all are major parts.
