The 2K clear sprays are the way to go if you are not using a spray gun and an air compressor.

Thanks Andy, I've got a spray gun, compressor and some PPG satin clear lying around so Ill give it a go

The comments about leaving it au natural are interesting but I think it would get scratched up pretty easily

I think leaving it natural would let the air get at it and everytime you touch it a little bit of black tarnish would come off..I nothing else the lacquer seals the ally.

I tried to find a place locally to blast it, it no luck. If I called a handful of places and only one bothered to answer the phone. Then I got some brain dead excuses on why they didn’t want the job. Maybe next winter I’ll give it a go on my own.
